same thing happened to me, but the person was even smarter, the POS waited till i was killing a paragon, when the paragon died he dropped a chest that could have been a hue to a paragon, i looted it and boom!! watch as a blue looted me and the paragon. i commend their efforts but it just hurts the server

This trick has been going around for awhile on rare occasion. I too like to put out random boxes and watch people's curiousity slaughter them. And all the best is that I know they can't give me a murder count

I read it somewhere that if u trap the box on the ground then no murder count towards the tinker. If u trap the box in ur backpack then u will get murder count. Not sure if it's true. Never tested it.
nope, trap boxes don't give counts.

In this situation i think the pure devious cleverness of this particuar trap should = no nerf/count cos its fucking beautiful. If i see this shit again im gonna open the ***** again just cos.. with proper, hilarius emotes first, obvi!

that would be super lame, its not like the person is using an exploit or something, they are using peoples curiosity to get them killed, its just like death gating. and honestly if you fall for this more than once you need to have your head checked. also to drop a box on a corpse and hide again without being seen is pretty skillful sounds like whoever did this was a real pro, and @Dj Double D doesn't seem to be faysed by it.They should

They use to get counts... why shouldn't they now? The intent was to kill the other player and loot his body... same as a normal PK.
I'm not say we should discourage this play style, I think its awesome!! I was victim to and even better thief / PK a month or so ago was the funniest thing I seen in months. There I was grinding my meta mage in dastard and all of a sudden I see this weird looking colored smoke to my left then a chest magically appeared... or so I thought. I do the obvious thing and rush right over thinking I just got some new random rare spawn. Next thing I know the screen goes black and some one is standing there looting my body. I laughed my ass off as I was on my way to get resed. I ran back as fast as I could to congratulate the killer on an excellent job but unfortunately he was already gone!

the argument that "it used to be that way so it should be now" isnt a good one. this is no different from death gating or luring spawn on someone. it is not an aggressive act, and if they loot you, they are crim and can be attacked. everything is working as it should.
if you want to congratulate the thief, all you need to so is say so in this thread, i bet they are reading it laughing their ass off.

i remember a pop up asking if i wanted to give this guy a count..im not sure if its still the same. it happened about 2 or 3 months ago.
IMO it shouldnt be a count...nobody forces you to grab the death trap box. its greed and curiosity that makes you pick it up!

Gotta remember, just because something happened ''back when'' doesn't make it legit just because of that.
In fact, I would actually say that having tinkers get murder counts for trapping boxes is silly, because at the end of the day, it was the players choice to open the box in an unsafe location.
