why does everyone miss the point of young status?

it does not matter if the guy would have 6 previous accounts that donated the gear to his new character...if ur farming high end shit in high end gear u dont need a young status!! how hard is this..? its to help you get started and get familiar to the game..

not saying this particular one is farming high end stuff, but its obvious he at least knows what hes doing. :)

Verite ingots are ballpark 50gp per,
Norse helm: 15 ingots - Translates to 750 gold.
Chainmail Tunic: 20 ingots - Translates to 1000 gold.
Ringmail Sleeves: 14 ingots - Translates to 700 gold.
Ringmail Gloves: 10 ingots - Translates to 500 gold.
Chainmail Legs: 18 ingots - Translates to 900 gold.
Plate Gorget: 10 ingots - Translates to 500 gold.

That means JUST his suit of armor is 4350 gold, it was all exceptional. Let's round up to 4500.

Vanq weapon - Even the trashiest one's are around 6k for quests. So say someone threw this ***** away in hopes to just make a little gold off it in turn someone would buy it for their talismans.

Alot of research has been done to discover he had Donation coins for the ethereal mount.

Without adding the shield which could have been trash thrown on the ground, the suit + weapon is 10.5k Gold. Your opinion is invalid, therefor every post you make is clearly bullshit. Can't take you seriously from this day forward.

Its Different if you give them tons of good gear including vanq's, full invul, and 5k of each reg and they are still farming skeleton's.

I know I don't have an active picture of this dude farming level 2-3 shame or any super spot where Air ele's are located. That is why I just posted the picture and was hoping @eppy or another GM/Admin would check into what this dude was doing with his young status.

I mean, eppy checks on me 16 times a week on my miner just trying to jail me :p

There is a fine line between what is reasonable and what is considered abuse.

Furthermore there's a few things that you can consider end-game PvM content and I'm not sure that MotM is one of them. What sucks about MotM is that it gives everyone a chance for nice drops. What's nice about MotM is that it gives everyone a chance for nice drops. Meaning something you want, an opportunity for newb and vet alike to score big, is by default promoting legitimate use of and also encouraging abuse of the young system.

So that's a grey area. MotM aside, end-game content is something that only a capable player is going attempt correctly. I mean gear up and give it an honest go, not just stop by out of coincidence or curiosity and dabble in some end-game PvM. Staff knows the difference and will make their judgement accordingly if responding to a page.

i agree with this. an easy way to do this is make it kind of like a guard zone. if they step out of that zone then they lose their young protection not their status until they come back in. "you have left the protection of the young status area" or something. so they can still wander about but with all the risks if they decide to leave the designated areas.

It was discussed and I don't know what happened to the idea. But it was a good'n. I can't take credit for it, but I will take credit for bringing it back up.

I believe it was @Shane who said it in irc.

I think some are a little too uppity about seeing any young player where they hunt. I understand when it is really blatant doing lvl5-6 T-maps, shadow balrons, etc that they don't need to keep their young status. Running around killing air eles I really don't feel is an issue.

It doesn't hurt to report someone you suspect so a GM can see if they have their skills locked just under the threshold.

I see a lot of young players camping lich/lich lords in Yew for a few days in a row. That spawn can rack up some serious coin and ss's fast with no risk of loss. Too me its a bit suspicious and maybe defeating the spirit of young status.

Wonder if a way to monitor by linking young status to fame gains or totals ?
