Defensive Thief Template

Hey all,

I was wondering if anyone has run the following thief template and if you have any feedback or suggestions.

Hiding
Stealth
Snooping
Stealing
Magery
Resist
Wrestling

The purpose of the template would be to Stealth around dungeons, town invasions, etc., steal and make a getaway. Wrestling to fend off dexers and occasionally throw a stun punch. I know many would recommend Arms Lore over Resist so I can disarm/steal, but I think the benefits of Resist against mages and mobs outweighs that.

Magery is mostly to recall, cure and heal, so I was also considering 80/20 or 60/40 Magery/Med and carrying a few pots. Thoughts?

Only thing that won't work as you expect is stun punch, which requires 80 anatomy in addition to wrestling. You might consider dropping wrestling/resist and doing anatomy/healing for a survival template

Ahh yes, of course. Even without stun punch, do you think this would be a viable template or is it that much better to have healing + anat?

Sure! It sounds fun actually. You will be a pure thief, and there's lots of fun to be had there. I think the skill i'm least happy with in that template is resist - you might consider just doing meditation instead.

Very nice template for stealing high profile stuff.

I made most of my money with this template.

I don't have nearly enough cash to get the extra 20 skill points, and if I did I would probably not put it into a thief. Is it worth dropping Stealth to 80 and putting the 20 into Med? That being said, is there any difference between 80 and 100 stealth? Are you more likely to be revealed by mobs or when snooping??

What about 80 stealth, 80 magery, 40 med?

You can go with 20 med, its not a huge difference from 40 i would say, just a luxury. If you have to spend 100 mana on your escape you are probably dead anyway.

80 stealth gives you permanent stealth without fail if you are not wearing any armor.

I like to keep magery 100 because it's your only means of healing (besides pots) and higher magery is bigger heals. And having 80 magery gives you only 70% success rate on your circle 6 spells which contain some of your most important spells (reveal and invis)

I run GM magery on my dexer just for gheal. No regrets.

If you chose to go 20 meditation with 100 intelligence the results will be:
0.2 mana points per second when wearing non-meddable armor.
0.6 mana points per second when wearing meddable armor and not meditating.
1 mana points per second when wearing meddable armor and actively meditating

and with 40 meditation and 100 intelligence you will do:
0.2 mana points per second when wearing non-meddable armor.
0.75 mana points per second when wearing meddable armor and not meditating.
1.3 mana points per second when wearing meddable armor and actively meditating.

So I would definetly advise to go GM magery and 20 meditation along with 80 stealth as @drasked advised.

Awesome, thanks all. What stats would you suggest running?

Do you need high Dex to have a good stealing success rate / steal heavier items? Or can I drop to have higher Int?
