Hi Staff,
Just wanted to reflect a little on the new water based champ. The implications of the new champs mobs dropping fishing semi rares like rope and barnacle ingots and other stuff like nets, MiBs etc will surely mean the death of the fisherman as an uof profession.
People were getting like 20 ropes during the champ... The effect of this will be that all the things that actually made fishing worthwhile have become utterly worthless since the market will be flooded with these items. What was previously the fishermans privilege will now be monopolized by tamers / Meta dexers like everything else on the server.
We will be flooded with galleon materials, swamp barding deeds will soon drop to super low prices and be with every toon on the shard.
Even though I have been a frequent fisher on the shard I will not cry or give up due to this. I will adapt as I always do. I also have a meta tamer and a meta dexer so I can join the fun like everyone else if this will be the case. I do however fear that this will be the death of the life on the oceans for UOF. Fishing has no more lucrative advantage on the seas. All UOF water activity will be based around this new champ. It will also mean that certain things that have previously been hard to attain will now lose their value completely both economically speaking but I also mean the value of obtaining something that you have fought hard for and can be happy about yourself that you actually did it.
My suggestion for a solution is:
Make the champ spawn on a timer and have its mobs drop these semi rares much more rarely than out at open sea if at all.
alt.
Put in other stuff that can be obtained instead that will not ruin whole functioning markets on the server.
alt.
Make the champ spawn differ from open sea spawn. Maybe whole new mobs (who knows what kind of exciting dangers lure in Sosarias waters?)
Just my 2 cents. If this champ does not change I will certainly delete my fishermen toons and go for other parts of the game...
Peace!
