Custom house questions

Hi,
I am trying to build my house but all of the floor tiles on the upper levels are orange.
Do they need to be supported from below?
And is there a way to do this without filling up the lower level with pillars or walls?

I also noticed that a 18x18 only has 17x17 customizable tiles, is this right or did I hit the wrong button in my haste to place?

Thanks.

Not sure about your second part as mine seems a tile shirt also but yes you have to have some form of support on underside for tile I suck at customizing but I know that part lmao be cause I suck at house shit hahahaha best of luck to you

When you're customizing a house, any floor tiles that appear red are most likely due to:

Being placed in an invalid location, like over a stairway
Being placed over a location where on the floor below there is (a) no floor, or (b) no support

You'll notice that as you place tiles they may be red, but after you connect groups of tiles together the red may go away and they will become valid floor tiles. For example, if you have three rows of floor tiles in the rear of your house, and three rows of floor tiles in the front, with nothing in between, these two sections may be red. But if you fill in the middle portion, the front and back become valid due to the newfound support.

It's confusing getting used to it but you'll get the knack. Also if you have no luck, try throwing some support beams below. Each beam I believe supports a specific number of tiles above, so for an 18x18 you might have to have quite a few.

As for your last question, I'm not too positive.. I think that sounds right because as far as I know 7x7s have only 6 tiles of usable space in either direction. The 7th tile, or 18th in your case, may be for the front steps and one row along the side of the home. Again, not 100% positive on this.

Did you take into account the back(N) and West Side wall tiles? Still count even though the full tiles really aren't available. That's my guess, at least.

Thanks guys. Once I made the walls invisible, I could see that the floor tiles were not supported. Was driving me nuts, thought I was going to have to live on a dirt plot forever.
doh.
