I´m having a hard time understanding how crafting can turn profitable in this server.
I´ve started a miner with blacksmithy and went to Minoc only to find out someone could steal me and i couldn´t call the guards on him (wtf is this?). After about 2 hours of mining i´ve gathered some iron but the blacksmithy skill goes up super slow.
I haven´t found any threads on the forum or wiki with a good explanation of this BOD system.

Please help. What is that i´m doing wrong?

keep mining until you have 100 mining. and use a packhorse so when you smelt all the ingots you have their stacks weighing more than 10 stones. then when you have a good amount, roughly ~7-10k iron ingots you should be able to GM off of that. just find someone with a rune to orc cave so you can lvl up BS faster there. Its slow because its very useful
Bods are mostly just orders so you can make equipment and hope for a good reward from them. you'll get some pickaxes and other random items for mining/blacksmithing. basically you keep getting them b/c you have a chance to get ones that build with rarer materials, and those are good b/c you can trade for other bods you need or complete them for more rare rewards.
(doing Large BoDs results in a better reward most of the time)
the higher end rewards sell for a good amount or if you have the mats and skill you can use them to make really good items which also sell for a good amount. all up to you.
Basically get Bods to fill LBoDs to get rewards to profit

Look up the bod calculator on stratics, all the bods have fixed rewards and youll know if youve got a good one or not! As for crafting in general and turning a profit, youd be best to get a prov warrior/mage template and go farm gold that way, but if you go large scale vendor house you can earn a bit too. Crafting is required for other players to function however, so sometimes a bloke has to pay another bloke. Never forget that! Always opportunities and sales to be had with crafting.

So check out the Wiki page on Crafting, it has information about skills and also the BOD system: http://www.uoforum.com/wiki/index.php?title=Crafting

You can find a list of rewards for BODs at this site and UOF is in alignment with these: http://tor.bplaced.net/bods-srw.htm

As far as mining goes, you will probably find it easiest to mine in Cove (http://www.uoforum.com/wiki/index.php?title=Cove) as it is inside guard zone, so you can call guards on thieves and be free of any PKs. Please note that if a thief gets a perfect steal off, then they cannot have guards called on them but WILL turn grey to you.

Blacksmithy is not an easy skill to GM for a new player unless you mine all of your ingots yourself (you need around 25k of them or so) as ingots usually go for 8gps each and it can be costly to buy your resources while training a skill like blacksmithy. I say this, but I myself mined all of my own ingots to get to GM.

Resources usually take the most time to gather, but also give a good return when sold. People are lazy, so you can almost always find someone to buy resources. Outside of resources, BOD Rewards are where the money is at. You can also have a vendor at a house and sell GM made items such as armor or weapons that people use (although most people don't use GM weapons too much unless they are Runic).

Hope this helps.

@halygon correct me if im wrong but doesnt exceptional weps/armor get the same bonus if ur gm or not? since you can still craft them below gm (with less success i might add) you just dont get your named on it

Exceptional is exceptional. There is no such thing as different exceptional bonuses based on skill level. The only difference is what you said, you don't get your name stamped on it if you are below GM.
