does anyone know how AOE works with the cellar? Can people in the cellar be hit by meteor swarm and chain lighting, etc, from others on the first floor?

Can cellars be placed under a classic home? Or do you have to have a customized house in order to have a cellar?

They work in all homes. It is very common for Castle(classic) owners to have cellars.

Yes you can. Because UO doesn't have a true z-axis, you can target a tile below or above a player (z axis wise) and still hit them with AOE spells/items.

Don't worry though it only happens if you have a butthurt stalker who has nothing going on and no one to play with. Everybody else will have better things to do than try to housekill you in your cellar.

Can these also be customized with walls and can you lock down items in them? Sorry I don't know much about them

Haha no. But you can lock objects down. No customization though and you can't even use a deco tool down there which is a real pain in the ass lemme tell ya.

Custom content has its flaws I suppose.
My favorite part about cellars is how the floor eats shit sometimes. Lost a strobe lantern in mine once and Carl came to my rescue after JoeB summoned him.
We had already tried customizing which booted all the stuff out of my cellar. Joe forgot that would happen and I was new to cellars. It had absolutely no bearing on the fact that I lost an item through the floor and it needed (and was) retrieved but still Carl felt the need to cuss me out for ten minutes after performing a one minute fix.
It was a fond memory.
P.S. my strobe lantern is now default hue and unblessed

After selecting one of the cellar layouts, can a different layout be picked or is it just one layout per cellar deed?
