Can't connect to IRC..?

Anyone know what I may be doing wrong while connecting to IRC? It continuously fails to connect. I've tried mIRC and Nettalk clients.

I attached screenshots of what I am doing.. pretty sure I'm using the right info from the pinned thread.

Maybe try not using password boxes in that part.

Once you are connected to Geekshed register your username there.

If you've already registered, once connected, type "/msg nickserv ID *yourpassword*

Not familiar with your particular client.

What settings/client do you use to connect? I tried removing the nickname/password fields and just left the server.. no luck. No idea why I'm not able to connect.. I tried this in mIRC as well.

Hexchat. Scrolled down the server list found geekshed put in my preferred username. https://hexchat.github.io/

Downloaded Hexchat, opened it and chose the default Geekshed connection without modifying anything.. Connection was refused. I give up must be something with my laptop or network that I'm entirely too lazy to troubleshoot.
