Buccaneer's Den Housing

Hey everyone,
When I first came to this server recently, my dream was to live out my past on the live UO shards and have a small house on Buccaneer's Den. It is possible to place houses there on live as well on many other UO free shards. I was very disappointed when I finally got the money to place a house and was informed that housing is not yet supported on this shard for Buc's Den.

If anyone can tell me if this might be coming in the future, or if I can donate a reasonable amount for the right to place a small 7x7 on Buccaneer's Den, I would really appreacite it. Thank you for your time.

house placement wasn't always blocked in Bucs Den.

For a short time, it was possible the same as any other UO shard.

Then afterward it was blocked, at the same time the zone changed to make everyone there grey.

I can't say weather or not it was intentional, I don't think that information was ever made available to the public.

Well this is really a make it or break it issue to me. I really enjoyed the RP involved in owning a shack on the infamous Buc's Den. It really added to the atmosphere of the game for me. If there is anything @Shane or any of the developers on this shard can do to one day soon make it possible for me to have a little 7x7 there, it would really mean the world to me as a player.

Is there something in particular you like about Buc's Den? You mentioned the RP involved. If it's anything to do with being buccaneers being a "piratey" term, there's an entire new landmass coming out that may be of interest: http://uoforum.com/threads/booty-island-april-26th-2015.57732/ There should be plenty of space there for a 7x7 :)

I wouldn't hold your breath for a Buc's Den house but there are a couple of possible avenues:

  • Players who donate a significant amount are given the option of having an island or cave house: http://uoforum.com/faq/what-are-donation-tiers-and-how-do-they-work.54/ There was once upon a time an option for large donators to own houses in town. TBH have a guild hall a couple of screens south of East Britain Bank.
  • Players or guilds who have contributed a lot of time and effort to build the community have also in the past been rewarded with special buildings (e.g. Trin guild).

As @wreckognize says, your best bet is to PM @Shane or @Adam here or on IRC. Keep in mind though that they are generally quite busy and likely get requests like this quite often!

It may not be the same RP feel but there are some spots around Serpent's Hold which I'd be happy to show you.

Thank you everyone for your support and suggestions. Buccaneer's Den has just always held my heart since I was 11 back in 1999. The danger of walking the dirt roads, the atmosphere around the island. It was just indescribable. The island just encompassed what I felt as a player. Anyway, hopefully things can change for the better in the future!

That absolutely kills me. I would of given anything to have bought that house. That is what aggrevates me the most is that it WAS possible and if I just would of started playing this game a few months ago I would have my little 7x7 right where I wanted it. If @Shane, @Adam or any other game developers get a chance to read this, please try to see if it is at all reasonable to allow housing on Buccaneer's Den again. It would really mean alot.

Also, it is my birthday next month and this would make a super awesome birthday present. All I want for my birthday is a small house on Buc's Den! Lol.

PS: I know the new Booty Island is coming out, but it just isn't the same! Buc's Den is where my UO heart is!
