New to the deep blue seas, questions are:
1. Are boats blessed
Yes, boats are blessed.
2. If they are sunk what happens to them
If your boat is sunk, the boat will be placed in your bank box. Anything on your boat to include upgrades, cannon balls and stuff in your backpack that is not blessed will be left as booty for the pirate who sank your ship.
3. If I recall/die on my boat how can I get back to it (if it's out to sea)
Be sure to place the recall rune for your boat in your bank box before you sail from shore. Should you die on your boat with the recall runes in your back pack you will have to wait for your boat to decay, be sank by a pirate or buy another boat and sink it. If you die on your boat and the boat was not in motion, the tiller-man will not listen to you (he won't listen if the boat is in motion either, but hopefully it hits land). I have used the character stuck feature to get to a healer for those times I have forgotten to place the runes in a safe place.

They want you to pay them so they don't attack you while you are on your ship. If they come upon your ship unmanned, the attacked it until it is on fire and then block it in with their boats leaving you to either buy a boat to sink theirs and yours or pay them to avoid this. You don't need a buy a new boat. They go to your bank when they're sunk. You may lose whatever is on your ship or on you. There are a few places where you can sail and bank on your boat or just recall after each chest to put it in your house so if you are sunk, you don't lose everything you fished up. Bad idea to pull up several chests and leave them on the ship as there are pesky pirates about.
