Thieves by nature are not good fighters but EVERYONE should have some means of defending themselves.
So which do you prefer?

Maces?
Fencing?
Archery?

Oh thieves can be good fighters! I dare to say thug thief is best pvp template, unless you fight people with billion of bags and supplies (or locked box). I prefer bows - you don't have to fight at all, just to shoot them once they're out of heals and start running.
