Beetle guard wacked and gone for good

I was at the crafters' square in Britain.
I was hidden, riding my beetle. My beetle was bounded.
I dismonted to get some wood out of my beetle. The beetle was thus visible.
I opened my beetle's backpack.
A thief tried to steal something out of my beetle.
Guard appeared, wacked the thief, BUT my beetle was GONE !!! Instead I had a bag on the floor with all that my beetle had in its backpack.
No ghost'ed beetle either.

Pretty annoying I'd say.
I want this guard dismissed, put in jail, and I want his name and whereabouts so I can sue him and the Britain's Council and obtain the replacement my beetle and an hefty fee for all the inconveniences !

Alot of shady characters have been going around slaughtering or griefing player pets, specially crafter beetles. I dunno if this is some new exploit, but the best thing I can say is be VERY wary when your getting off your beetle.

Your beetle went wild attacked you and got guard whacked, happened to me once when beetles were 200k, really sucks but there it is. don't forget to feed your beetle.

Well, it is possible, of course, but I feed my beetle every time I feed myself and that's before every crafting session.
And I don't believe in coïncidences. It turned wild at the very moment the thief was wacked ? I didn't even see two hits from the guard. Wham ! and there was a dead thief and a stupid backpack on the ground.
But well... I'm not whinning about the loss. I just would like to have an explanation, and maybe the staff looking into a possible bug.

So this is weird, I was ON (not dismounted) my beetle last night at the crafter's guild and logged out after raising my Inscription. I log back on just now and my beetle is gone. Somehow I was dismounted and my beetle is gone. He had a ton of ingredients in his pack. Is there some sort of exploit about this? It's strange how I see this post at the same time about another beetle in the same place.

Checked the stables.. nothing.

Was making kegs this morning in the crafting area, dismounted to get resources, beetle got whacked. I admit I hadn't fed him in a while, probably months lol. Live and learn! Like Messremb said, atleast they aren't too expensive. I remember buying a beetle for 200k back in the day. The very next day I went afk in the crafting area and someone kited it off

Yup I get the ingredient reduction bonus on my scribe like smithys get for ingots, etc. Pretty sure it works for all craft skills. It only works if the amount of resources being consumed is greater than 1 though.. if you are making a recall scroll that requires 1 Black Pearl, 1 Blood Moss, and 1 Mandrake Root, it will still take 1 + 1 + 1. However, if you're making a BOD book that takes (I think) 10 blank scrolls, you'll get the % deduction bonus.
