Ever heard of a Gold sink? its done for a pretty good reason the last thing they need to do is put Free gold in the system
See most other free UO server people have silly amounts of gold in the 100s of millons and it has no value what so ever all this achieves is raising the price of evrey other item in the game and increase the gap between New and vet players.

Yeah I'm pretty sure the Devs want more incentive to get RID of your gold as oppose to create more.

all it means is to have something for people to spend their gold on...such as the the new pirate quest or the poker table by brit bank.

Basically to sum everyone else up - the interest isn't going to happen because the developers want to take money out of the economy. They are trying to create a stable economy, making sure that people don't pile up HUGE amounts of gold for no reason. They make things that you spend your money on - gold sinks. Poker, items, etc are gold sinks. They take money out of the economy and put it into oblivion. Gold is quite easy to make on this server, once you've got an established character. A good money making character only takes a day or two to make.
