Are Youngs OP now?

For what provoing level 5 shame, I'm new but that looks like what I'm looking at? If not what is it?

If he is provoing, He hasn't hit the skill limit or in game time for the [Young] tag to be removed, I'm guessing almost or GM Provo and Music and prob no other skills yet. The absolute limit would be another day of farming aggro/pk free. How is it OP to not be aggro'd or pk'd for 40, or however many hours you get the tag?

It's not that much time and I doubt he'll amass enough riches in that 40 hours to never have to step foot in a dungeon the rest of his Ultima life, you will be able to pk him soon enough.

Also, Is the [Young] player talking shit to you about his loot drops? lol

He is able to farm with no risk. he is able to be killed and keep everything on this body, he can loot other peoples kills and go grey with no repercussion, he can loot peoples bodies and go grey again with no risk...I think it's an abuse able system

you can kill him but will get a 2 min stun. if he goes grey and you kill him he is fair game no stun but yea he keep his loot but it wont last long..


judging my the name thou someone may wana check he is not doin same thing over and over using a VPN or w/e

even people with young status are owning noxxed, jesus, nothing ever changes - it won't be long before noxxed is chased into his house by this young player never to be heard of again

OK the only way a young would have and advantage that I can see me be a Fresh body to the server and all is being geared.........I got lucky and found a harm mace and hardening shield *which got looted when i died in town trying to macro mage up T_T* and i owned mobs abit not much tho.....because I still had regular cloth clothes on .......so thats really the only way that I can see a young being OP is by having vanq gear and some uber plate because skill gains are pretty right near normal with how live was *that i can rmember its been 9 years or so since i last played on live* but i do agree no drops on death does kind of spoil you and then when you loose your first backpack full of regs bandaids etc........oh man oh man oh man does that ever suck watching a boat oad of cash go out the window.......But also modivates you to hit 7x faster to go hunt and build your faction toon

I think they probably need to add some more triggers to the list of things that can end young mode.

AFAIK, total skill exceeding some number is the only one that currently ends young mode.

There should be one for provoke > 80 because you can easily macro provoke to 80+ in 1 night and 80 provoke is enough to make a character into a powerhouse.

Alternatively, they could make it so a young will have their items drop if they die in certain places such as shame 4 & 5, covetous 5, orc cave 3, khaldun, etc. Places where a provoker can make decent cash.

Gray youngs should have any loot they acquired after flagging drop on their corpse so if they loot your kill you can kill them and get your loot.

If someone is abusing their "young" status just page in. If I personally am online at the time I will watch them and see what they're up to. If they are abusing I will jail the char and request them to renounce their young status. If they will not and we feel they clearly know the rules and that they are abusing them purposefully we will remove the young status ourselves. If it seems like they are just kind of new to the shard and were "innocent" in their actions we will release them and I would just follow him around for a while and check for re-pages. Abuse meaning, looting other people's kills and such.

I think if you catch someone obviously abusing it watch them when they get in a corner then drop young on them ninja style!

Yea, that would a much more fun way to go about it. Explaining to them what they're doing wrong, regardless of how obvious, is necessary as a staff member though. Otherwise you'll see posts about how the Staff is abusive and removing young status at will without warning.

Actually, one looted me before went grey and then I couldn't attack him. Said "you can not preform negative acts on your target" so I asked if a red in the guild could and same message.

well you used to be able to kill youngs just got a 2 min stun and companions got the message "Spudd has murdered Young" mayb its changed recently.

If he's in town same goes for any red attacking someone. But the Young status wears off in 9 hours so I don't think this will be a huge issue.
However, I have seen a few youngs with that Young title a lot longer than 9 hours it seems. Maybe the GMs can check if the timers are still correct.

I've seen a couple [young] Lords farming now. Since you can hit 7xgm here in mere hours, I think established players are probably using VPNs and then using them to farm gold risk free.

Lord Khaz is one that comes to mind. I see him farming titans in despise a lot. Obviously we just ignore him, since he can't actually be looted anyways.

What??? That was dumb. Sorry, just speaking truth. It's unneeded. They can join NEW and get help and guidance. The only way to learn is to throw them out into the real word so to speak. Let them find guilds to join up with. The answer isn't holding their hands for a week. Is that play time or actual 40 hours? Because game time that could be three weeks depending on how long they play. No wonder people are taking advantage of that. GMs I love you but this needs rethought.

Yeah 40 hours is a lot I didn't realize that. Still, it's just 40 hours and I don't really see the harm in it, newbs get a little more of a cushion is all.

the problem is that its not newbs enjoying the benefit it is that the vet players using it as a exploit with vpn abuse.
