Are we getting poorer?

Everybody bids low and I have seen a lot of posts saying that $$ is gone.

This could happen due to two reasons:
1) A lot of guys sold everything and quit (at least for short time)
2) Taming SS drops went bad and income got more difficult

On the other hand the rares keep increasing (new dono vendor items) and money pours to them. For the guys playing this means having a lot of rares and no money.

I am pretty sure though that @Belge (UMA) can feed us all =)

In fact, I shall be running a free soup kitchen every Friday night at my home, to quench the hoards of Britannia`s poor! Free games, music, and dance as well!

I only survive on a dono-coin-only diet. Will your kitchen be able to supply me with my dietary needs?

I think it's just the staff doing a great job at maintaining an economy. I'd rather have stuff to play towards and a ton of gold sink items to try and get instead of every body with 50+ million gold like on Hyb##d.

I did quick math on the items that have been sold on the gold sink vendor and there was literally a metric shitton of gold sunk on it.

OR, it's because everyones been so use to finding 1 scroll, ad bank rolling an entire account of toons off it, now they are fat and lazy and don't want to go into the dungeons.

I have never seen a server that has been up for as long as we have, with the amount of people we have here successfully fix the economy like we have been recently. Honestly i didn't think we could even DROP the overall gold on the server, it's really impressive.. Gold has true value here, and as long as the gold value is strong, it keeps people in those dungeons, being active and obtaining it.

It could be that a ton of stuff was seriously, seriously, over-valued as well for a long time, i think the IDOC random timer fixed a lot of this as well.
I think rewards are great, but like i stated above, one item you come by randomly in a dungeon should not set you up for a long time like it was..

Also if prices are lower, that's ultimately what we WANT. This enables new players to have a chance at obtaining things that veteran players have (large houses, castles, large ticket items).

If things get too pricey, it's pointless for new players to join because they feel that they will have to grind for months to obtain such things.
So the answer is no ones getting poorer, everyone's just balancing out nicely.

Except that one scroll is now worth even more than it was, and stuff is cheaper. So, you can have cash leftover after bank rolling the entire account.

Yes but you aren't finding them every single day like people were.

I think it's definitely a sign of a good economy that people are being a bit smarter about what they buy/sell and the price of such things...It's frustrating, but it is a necessary part of keeping a good economy. Gold is still not HARD to obtain...you just need to invest the time, and you will get an equal return. and when those taming SS do actually drop..it's like Christmas morning...instead of "cool. another one"

I gotta agree with shane. Im very impressed with this servers ability to maintain a real value on gold and not fall into inflation. Ive played since 98 and have been on countless servers and this has been one of my biggest gripes about all of them. Job well done! :D

Agreed the UOF team has done an excellent job keeping gold down. Hyper inflation sucks and it kills activity in dungeons. People are interested so long as there are active players.
