Are Llamas really faster then horses??

I'm going to buy some ethy mounts and I've been told that the llamas are faster then the horses, but I'd rather have a horse. Is this true?

Everyone says that because ethereal llamas create less visual lag, thus on a slower machine/connection you may seem to move faster due to less visual delay.
