Archery Revamp

So I know this was brought up before but I think it should be revisited. Here is my idea to accomplish two things, first bring archery into pvp and second to make xbows more useful/desired.

Recommended changes:

Bows: Currently none, I think if we changes bows it will make it too powerful in PVM.
Xbow: Ignore 25% AR and reduce stam equivalent to a 1h mace
Heavy Xbow: Ignore 40% AR and chance to stun. Speed of shot may have to be adjusted to prevent OP.

I think this will bring pvp to archers other than stealthing around.

Mages can cast para at range......also I'm not saying every shot stuns again it would be up to the devs to make adjustments to prevent it procing too often. Thank you for offering your opinion even if it is hollow. Enjoy your day.

Bows fire instantly - mages have to cast para which can be nullified by pouches
para breaks on damage, stuns do not
sorry I had to break it down that much for you to understand why it would be ridiculously overpowered

Again I'm not saying every shot on a heavy Xbow would do this....again that its % chance can be adjust to ensure it doesn't happen to often. Mages can chain cast paras until you run out of pouches Heavy crossbows have a slow rate of fire....sorry I had to break you out of your little box.

You are trying to apply only part of what I'm saying to the current setup. Which is why I'm calling it a revamp and not an addition. Speed of shots and percent chance of it happening to be lowered or raised to compensate for the fact it is a range stun.

or instead of complaining about the suggestion add something that would be better for the heavy crossbow. Like pinning instead of stun so that you can pouch out of. If all you do is spew negative feedback with out offering a suggestion then you are wasting forum space. Add to the idea.

Archery needs a revamp for sure ..
Id be happy with just allowing archers to shoot while moving, with an accuracy penalty ..

In more advanced thinking id love to see a cone of accuracy based on the skill level of the archer ..
as it is now i wiff waaaaay to often should not take me 4 strikes to kill a mongbat because 3 were wiffs ..

So my idea is this .

Based on current hit chance ratios ..
Acher will now be able to shoot while in motion, but would suffer a damage and hit chance reduction penalty when a shoot is made whilst in motion.
However an unmounted archer would not receave this penalty.

Also introduce a new cone of accuracy to the archers hit chance as follows ..
- bascically anything in a direct line of fire that the archer is facing would have improved hit chance ..
- Any target on the side directions of the archer , the hit chance would be as is now ..
- Anything Behind the archer would have a large hit chance reduction, To reduce kiting in pvp ..

an out right stun random proc would be a little OP, sadly i have to agree. as much as id love it ..
Any proc effect would need to have a counter effect for this to be balanced .. So My suggestion instead would be :
A random proc effect that (instead of stun), would reduce the targets stamina to 0, slowing them down , and can be countered be chugging a refresh pot.

Archery is fine, it can be used effectively in pvp if you know what you are doing. Just making an archer and clicking a target should not make you a good pvper.

Not to mention a group of archers is already very OP. They never run out of mana, they don't have to be next to you, and they fire almost instantly when they stop running.

You wanna have some fun pvping on archers, make a group of 3 or 4 scribe archers.

-1 for any archery revamp.

Do you use it for pvp? Everything I've read has it strictly as a PVM skill minus stealth archery. Honest question :)

yes i shit on noobs with my provo archer. 25dmg hit from a vanq bow while i provo tier 5 monsters onto you

archery is difficult to balance for pvp
its been that way for pretty much every era of UO
its either weak or really OP
the devs have (rightfullt so) decided not to have it overpowered in pvp
