archery hit chance

is broken
so it seems
its very bad
what is the code lookin like fer dat?
jst wondering why its so bad :D

not only that, but the system seems to not want to give bows with accuracy, theyre basically rare as hell which works, they are supposed to get a bonus to hit chance because theyre so slow
but even with extra 25% to tip the scales in hit chance to favor archer, it seems like its still less than gm in terms of 50 50 chance its more like 40/60 in favor of the opponent even at 125

I haven't done extensive testing with this but with playing two archers on this server over the last 4 months I agree it seems to miss quite often at GM (even with +25)... whats even worse is trying to deal with constant misses w/ a heavy xbow... renders it almost useless.

I ditched archery for magery because it was that bad. I miss it sometimes, but the utility from magery is nummy

I would like to see a hiding/stealth bonus. For instance if you come out of stealth/or hiding you have a 90% chance to hit with bonus damage. That would be great!

I agree archery sucks, but I think that's because archery has ALWAYS sucked on UO. Having to stand still to shoot is always the weak point along with the slowness of the swing speed.

I have never ran into an archer I couldn't kill.

I HAVE however ran into a large group of archers which is dumb but deadly.

It's not even the standing still part that's the problem though.

But yeah, the only way to be truly effective as an archer is in a group.

you guys must not eat and drink, it works fine for me

I remember on OSI always eating thinking it made a difference in success rate etc... but later on thought that that was not actually the case. Since here I read that it does affect skill gain, but not skill ability. Am I wrong? Should I be eating on a 7x char, or only while gaining skills?

There has been times where i go to open a gate and fizzle more than usual. I then find that my character is extremely hungry and consume some ribs. After eating it appears i have a higher success rate when casting spells.

Always eat and drink to max, still the same problem.
Wondering if we can get staff input on the code involved?
Seems @blackbeltjones had it right with the 10% when redlined
I'm glad im not the only one who has noticed this hit chance problem, it should be 50% with an increase at 125 skill, provided you're not fighting another archer with a supremely accurate bow.
Because the odd's are still not great, it's really hard to tell, but it could be working as it normally should be.
it just doesn't seem like it is....
