I am sure alot of it is griefing, but alot of it I sure is people getting tired of the tamer getting all the goods.

Who wins events? Tamers
What prizes are the event rewards for? Tamers
Who makes the most gold on this shard? Tamers...

Not that I agree or condone what is going on I'm just saying ...
Tamers do make a lot of gold... But you have to think about what it takes to make it to being a tamer (hours of training )and also what it cost to keep up your pets. (You have to survive spawn, reds, and now blue griefers pet killing) Pvpers make a lot of gold off of tamers. Tamers helps new players get established. Blue pet killers gain what from killing pets?? The thrill of ruining someone else's fun?? Wow.. It is getting to the point I am afraid to say hello to a blue and if I find out they are new..offer them a hand in settling in to our server. All good..panic hot key. FTW.

Thanks for posting that... It Is so true. I don't mind giving up my loot to a PK who gets off that killer shot on me that's one thing. But to have to work on resetting my pet skills just because of some goofball wanting to ruin my nights fun and adventure by pet killing. I would be very happy to donate for coins to reset lost skills.

OK devils advocate again but scrolls eggs and what not can be farmed do t have to be purchased. Also every item a dexer loses to a pk cost money as well..


Now as a serious note:

I don't think dono coins should be used for this situation is right feels kinda pay to win or pay to play honestly but I could see gold sink... not millions but a possible sink here what about a "pet license " like many cities for exotic pets? Purchase a pet license and for xxx time if a player kills your pet the exp is reduced by say 90%

If the excuse for killing a pet is truly role play than the loss is minimal, if the reason to kill the pet is to grief ... well the griefing is minimized.

I will say 1 thing here as much as I dislike tamers (well any pet class to be honest) is that if a tamers meta abilities don't work in pvp well then the penelties should be reduced greatly from a pvp death

Takes a slot up but reduces exp lost when a pet dies at the cost of xx% gold from mob corpse


This makes a tamer decide what's important to them has a built in gold sink aaaaaand is a choice. Some may rather have an extra meta abilities for combat some may give up so dps in favor for security?)

(Disclaimer: I am a bum and have no actual input with the devs. My ideas maybe crazy or good. In the even they turn out to be good there is no garwnteed it will ever be implemented)

Seems a little convoluted. I think just giving back a boost to skill gain to help offset the skill loss of death will go a long way without making any major changes.

Just tweak what we have instead of crazy new mechanics. The only time that has worked well was adding SS for let's which has gone a long way... but even though skill gain could be better anything new is overkill. Just tweak the gains, find a perfect balance...you'll still want to burn summoning charges even if you double the skill gains like it used to be for pets (even back when it was only .1 skill loss per let death, remember that shit?)

Can we go back to double skill gain? That would keep a lot of the clamor down. It makes sense.
 
I understand 2mil xp resets our skills which is a great idea, but farming that takes a long time, unless you play a lot everyday and all you do is farm. Just today my pets have been attacked by blues many times. The one time I fight back, he pks me while my pets are busy trying to defend themselves. Then of course my pets die. At the moment I don't care that they died, because I am about to hit the next stage and my ww has died so much, there's no point to try to work on its resist. But that is me. When i hit my next stage, it's going to matter to me a lot and I also got a new ww in the works.
Of course though, they will end up being trash sooner or later, because I will have to put all the money I get towards skill scrolls just to keep them decent.

People say join factions. Why? So I can get killed by faction members constantly just to keep my pets skills decent? Fight back? So more come in anyways to help their guildy?

I don't think it would be very easy for the uof team to make it so blues get murder counts off pets or skill loss if they die by the pet they were trying to kill. I do however believe since it is already in place, the skill loss on pets should decrease. I understand that if its decreased to much, skill scrolls loose some value, but it's ridiculous how much you have to spend and work on your pets. I use my meta, ww and nightmare all the time. They are so bad because I gave up for the time being.

I believe they put in the 1% skill loss is because there are people who just don't care the death of pets, also (sort of) abused the 0.1% skills loss by leaving pets in champ spawns for auto points (until they die) instead of healing them, keeping them alive. It wasn't about the value of the SS..

Lots of valid posts and threads, counter arguments, better ideas were put up but they were all deleted (but not forgotten). I created one such thread before so I have clear memory of this. ;)

So in a nutshell, you put in something to solve one problem but created another in the process (grieving of pets). Previously, hardly any reds will bother killing your pets in the dungeon after they kill you, but now they make sure your pets must die to maximize the pain. Is it the right solution to counter people who don't bother about pets' deaths, one could only wonder..

And btw, 90% of the times EQMS kills pets of people who are trying to pvp with said pets.

EQMS rolling 8 deep and pking bards/tamers isn't half as common as most people believe.

I have to back lollo up on this one. EQMS ganked me outside of a dungeon. One member resurrected me while the other ran in circles with my meta on his tail until I was rezzed and could call him off. My meta wasn't very high yet either so it would have been an easy kill.

Wouldn't make me happy at all... perma pet statloss was a mistake from the beginning. Why punish a play style that isn't out to grief anyone!? Did adding it really do any good... did it help with some major shard problem? The answer is NO!

Option 2 is the only good compromise!!!

I think the penelties for being red is to low as well. The first defence a red will use is the "2 day stat loss" but these players probably never where red on the original osi shards or they would remember macro ing off days on end to work off red counts. Not to mention there is murder reset deeds if the player really can't Handel the life style of a red.

Now I am not saying they need to get that excessive of 40 hours per murder of stat loss but 30k or whatever it is here is chump change to what some of the better murderers make. And to be 100% honest even though I don't have a red toon if the in fact got rid of murders here I would quit, its part of the danger in uo. But if the consequences are not harsh enough there is no moral obligation in game be be good.

This has nothing to do with Trammel... to the best of my knowledge pets never had statloss on any OSI shard ever.

Pet statloss became a problem here on UOF because the so called hard core felucca "PVP" players were pissed off that tamers were encroaching on their play style. So instead of removing tamers from factions they came up with harsh pet statloss penalties. It never did fix the problem, all it really did was open up a whole new griefing profession.
 
So.. Not wanting to always deal with your pets skills because of asshole griefers who have nothing better to do makes it trammy? Umm okay. I think most of us who get pked dont care that we died or about what's on our bodies. If they kill us, good for them. It's what makes uo uo.

I think you maybe misguided some. The point of killing a pet is to eliminate a possible threat. Just like my chosen skill people exploit my weeknesses all the time to... run off if I am moving I can't do any thing. Mages get in their faces they can't med they interrupt their spells etc. By eliminating the tamers tools they eliminate the threat.

And to be honest my opinion is tamers are out of control as it is I don't agree but sympathize with people that want to kill the pets.

I know some people really want to play the pet class bit there are far more that want to maximize damage and don't care what they have to play to do it, hence we have an over abundance of tamers. So it's not an attack on tamers per say just a disgust for people minimizing maximizing to have an advantage over others.
