An extra follower for herders

Read before you reply.

Herding needs some kind of a buff. It would make sense if herders got an extra slot or two for GM herding.

Regarding OP concerns: PvM tamers would have to give up music or vet to get it: that's a big sacrifice. Likewise, there isn't much in PvP tamer templates that could be easily sacrificed for herding. In sum, you couldn't get the extra slots without paying a fair price for them.

Having 6 slots would allow for two meta pets, or two dragons, two death beetles, etc.

The current slot count is balanced around 5, both PvP and PvM. I don't think it's worth disrupting just to make herding useful.

Oh shit this would be so broken.

I can already see $ rolling with two lvl7 metas each.

Nope thanks

For PvM, If it were 6 slots, and players were limited to one meta pet, I think the costs would be fair (giving up provo for a dragon instead of a wyrm). But I have no idea how it would shake out in PvP on here.

Yeah whether it was worth the disruption was more or less my main concern about it too.

Anyway, suggestion withdrawn.

Maybe with 100 herding you can gain additional lesser slots of some sorts or a (mind controlling like for short time period). I see that your trying to make the skill more useable. I don't know if using herding into a moongate works but maybe some perks to having the skill.

Yeah. Maybe if control was more fine grained. Eg. expressed out of 100 instead of 5. Then you'd have enough leeway to structure things so that certain animals got certain control reductions with herding, such that none of the follower combinations would be unbalanced.

This is pretty much my motivation. It's Chekhov's gun: ""If in the first act you have hung a pistol on the wall, then in the following one it should be fired. Otherwise don't put it there." For whatever reason, fictional worlds are received better when all their contents (skills, in this case) have a purpose.
