AFK PK In Town?

So i go afk to make a pizza and come back to a dead body. Im fine with that. I know going afk has risks... but in town, i'd think guards would do something?

not really sure how that works, or in what situations a guard would actually... guard... not bitter, just more curious and wondering how to prevent it (other than not going afk, things happen in irl)

any shed wisdom would be much appreciated

Ppl can attack you in town if no NPCs on screen or looking in your direction(still a small chance they'll get guardqgacked but not likely).
There's a few different methods to this but all have this feature

ah, i didnt know that.

does the same thing apply if you yell 'guards'? like an npc has to be around, or will they just come... trying to figure out if i can just do an afk macro when i have to leave suddenly, where if i have low life, they'll get to guardwack

No, the npcs just call guards for you when they "witness" a crime. If you call the guards, it doesn't matter if npcs are around or not - the guards still come.

Best way to avoid it is macro with saying guards in your macro or near someone who is. They can still kill you on other ways though.

They can also run in with explosion pre-casted, target you, and run way off screen. Then yelling guards might not catch them.

i won't name them, as i left another toon in a similar spot to catch him again, and i got him back

@Shortbus i don't think the afk police try to sell me back a hardened heater shield for 100k and get mad when i laugh at him lmao

Or recall. They can also get off an ebolt most times, with decent timing before guardwhacking.
It's really a lot of tactics to it, I'm surprised when I show ppl you can kill players/NPCs in town.

3 Flamestrike scrolls and an ankh in town makes it pretty easy for someone to kill you AFK in town even if they get guard whacked. With the ankh you don't need to wait for the crim timer to get rezed by a healer.

Yes he definitely is back. He killed me about 4 times yesterday (I'm not crying, it was fun chasing him around. I ended up bying KVM scrolls for my craft, and they paid off )

I was actually curious, how come he doesn't become a PK? From following him around, it seems that he just keeps attacking people and killing them in towns.
