There is another meta being afk macro'd in Despise with the fast-spawning troll in the western boarder of the map in level 2.

I attacked it and nearly killed it but the owner (a player named 'Number') managed to get it before I was able to finish it off; to say nothing of the EQMS-factioner that came in shortly after to try and kill me ( you walked right past me).

Inviting any non-EQMS to patrol Despise once in awhile in groups of 2-4. Help grief the guild (wrekt I'm looking at you).

@eppy @Shane @halygon any ETA on when the rules about afk macro'ing will actually count again?


EDIT: side question; is it possible/legal to make a script that keeps track of your pets health even if you aren't there so that you recall in, get your pet and recall out all while afk?

Not possible to check a mobiles health using any legal methods I am aware of. Did you check the surrounding area for hidden chars or ghosts? Also quite possible that the player just toggles to that account every so often to check and happened to spot you at just the right time.

Scouted with a GM detect hidden, it's possible I might have missed them; technically...

Not a script expert but there might be a way. Also don't forget you can always see your pet losing health in the top left corner with red numbers flashing when away from it, be it a screen away or miles away.

There is a way - I always thought that particular part of steam was blocked on this server though, to prevent bot healers etc.

question:

Do YOU need to be alive, or just within so many tiles of the pet in question? Can you give a friend (or alt account) the ability to command meta-pets (assuming they have the required taming)?

Scenario:

The owner of said pet is a ghost and stays near pet while friend (or alt account) commands pet to stand guard near spawn and rescues it if the pet gets in danger.

freinds cant give commands to other peoples pets, never thought about a ghost standing there with relic near.... should test this...

Afk training relics is currently legal still (has been for long time) - AFK training the meta pet itself however is illegal. As long as it is blatently obvious that they are training relics, GMs will not interfere as no rules are broken. If it is questionable or obvious that the pet itself is gaining exp (and not just relics), then GMs will take action - usually by wiping out the pet's exp and sometimes resetting the levels.

Feel free to kill any meta-pets that you see being AFK'd as that is the risk the owner takes by leaving them AFK.

How can you differentiate training just relics to training XP. Don't you have to be in combat with a monster to do both?

I'm new to the pet game. Give me a break.

so to gain on relics, you dont have to be on screen or the meta stone doesnt have to be near the pet to gain? why not just fix that....

It would be literally impossible to get away with hiding near a pet and get points for afk killing. You are revealed when your pet kills something and it would be painfully obvious if you were being revealed and hiding via script.

So yeah just kill the pet. The skill loss won't matter people won't do it on pets that they can't just reset the skills on when they level up...but you will at least slow them down for that session.

Considering I showed with pics that another EQMS member was training a meta-dragon (in this very spot, in the exact same way) and nothing happened I have no reason to believe you.

Just keeping it real.
