9000 donation coins

I can repsect the passion in criticizing this person for not selling to Famara after helping him. I'd like to see more vigor in ostracizing people who fk up auctions and deals of people trying to do legitimate business in the forums too.

It was nice for gms to give the money back to him, but i guess it's unfair to other people who may have dropped something expensive by mistake and didn't get anything in return...

And i really hate the fact that in the end he didn't trade with famara.
The post in this forum explicitly says 1.4m and he should have sold the coins at that value.
Next time learn how to auction, NOOB, instead of giving a price and then not respecting it.

It's bullshit that the GM's interfered with this.

And NO I am not Stanky Panky, but how the hell are you promoting fairness with this..

I agree.. I hate moves like this where GM's interfere when there is already ample newbie safe guards in place... I know this is someone's real life money they donated and lost.. but they lost it due to their own fault... People need to be more careful and stop having the integrity of the game compromised.

Issue I have with this is that the coins in question were going to be traded for in-game currency. Basically 'short-cutting' their way through the game.
Learn to make money the legitimate ways through a little more effort than punching in credit card info. More in the field = more interaction = more pvp.
This only teaches people to become more and more sedentary and creates less interaction.

Re: the gm's giving it back, it is what it is. They can do whatever they wanna do. This exact instance doesn't happen every hour and every day.
Instead of lynch-mobbing them, try to at least look on the brighter side of customer relations. If someone buys 9k dono coins off them, yes, buys off them, I don't refer to it as actually donating, they're likely to do so again. Whereas, if they lose the $90 right away, it'll probably sour them from future purchases.

Gm's made a call, and from a business standpoint, it was the right one.

No doubt.. It is a tough call to make.. but where do you draw the line? And what if this does happen again an hour from now? and then again? and people point back to this time and reference it as a way to leverage the GM's to act on their behalf... It just really sucks to hear about shit like this.. Whether it is for donation coins or deleting rares for the sake of the economy....

If people didn't love this server, we wouldn't care enough to discuss this.. If for nothing more.. than to just safe guard against this in the future. I honestly wish I hadn't even heard about this happening. Wouldn't mind if this thread was just completely deleted (as opposed to just locked).

the buyer just missed to open the trade window first so he didnt get it for 1,4m

Perhaps if they spent more time playing the game with effort, and less time punching in cc info they'd learn the ins and outs of dropping a worthless item first to initiate trade transactions safely.

theres things you can know and things you can do
some things are great while others just blew

were the gms wrong? are noobs ever right?
who woulda thought this topic worthy of a fight?

well maybe not a fight but you know this is a bicker
im more against scavenger, even though i think im quicker

Injustice from the gods? for protecting a noob....
whats the alternative.... bend over... no lube?

yall know me a bit, you know how i feel.
That donation coin purchase just wasnt our deal.

if your monday needed drama
I saw a topic far less dicerning
when dragons were spawned on yew gate
with no type of warning

some guy died real quick
while he shopped for wares
and i saw shane blow it off
without any cares

but in this ol boys opinion
thats an actual crime
what a gm chooses to do
shouldnt force us a out of a dime

so if refunds were issued and errors absolved
i hope he got his stuff back too since gms were involved.

I love this server, and that was no dig at shane
but i share my opinions and hope for no disdain.

luv u guys

stay classy uof

dude must have gotten a better deal... can you blame the man for being a smart business man?

He is a thought.... did he screw FAMARA or was FAMARA trying to taking advantage of a newb that didn't know the real value of the coins???

smart buisness man? taking advantage of a noob??
wow....
even tho he CLEARLY posted 1.4 mill as what he wanted and Famara just SO HAPPENED to be the ONE who offered it to him... if it was somebody else im sure there wouldn't have been comments like these above

The fact that a gm can make this decision here and a different decision in a similar but slightly different situation speaks to string leadership. It takes someone with a spine to make a decision they may have to defend as opposed to just following a blanket policy "we don't replace lost items". I personally might have said tough loss to the player but the fact that the gm will look at the situation as a whole and make a decision based on all the facts is a good thing even if you think you should have gotten x when y happened to you.

Nothing personal against FAMARA he just happens to be the one involved in this transaction, but you’re absolutely right. If it was someone else who wasn’t one of the richest on the server you wouldn’t see these types of comments.

The issue is the rich are paying the least. I’ve always had a problem with this type of an economy. The fact you see the rich posting in the buying forms to buy at below market value at the same time there are multiple posts of player selling on the selling forms is destroying the value of donation coins. The whole purpose of this last donation switch was to try and stabilize the value but this won’t happen while the rich continue to take advantage of the poor!

Well we don't want to discourage people form donating which helps us all. What if he is brand new to UO he would have no way of knowing how to handle trades and to open window with cheap object.

Exactly. You missed my point entirely somehow. If he's brand new, what does he need 1.4 mil for right out of the gate? Could maybe try something crazy like playing the game? Earning his way to it? Learning as he goes. I know. Hard for some to grasp.
