Actually, I'm going to walk back my previous statement.
Thieves who PK are not thieves. They are PKs.
Using detect hidden to PK is PKing. Same for stone walls. Provoked Mobs. Tinker traps. Trained mobs. Warhammers. Body Blocking. Energy Bolts. Tamed dragons.
Weapon of choice shouldn't...
I never said they should get a count. I may have inadvertently implied it, but I was just thinking flagged. Same as stealing from them.
Again, I'm assuming impossible mechanics here, but yeah, all of those things would flag you in a perfect world. If you're killing other players, they should be...
I agree with everything you just said.
The person revealing me is still killing me in this example, though. In an ideal world where game mechanics can always judge the situation perfectly (not possible), they would get flagged for doing so.
You may have read it wrong. I'm not sure.
The whole point is that they're not flagged while they're actively trying to get me killed by revealing me.
Revealing me in the middle of a pack of dragons gets me killed just as surely as hitting me with a Corp Por. The only difference is that only...
I disagree that it makes the skill almost -- or even slightly -- useless.
It still seems like a pretty mild change to me, but then, no one has given any examples of the ways they use it (as thieves) other than to catch people who are AFK anyway.
It's my thief that this usually happens to, and I'm not interested in the risk of taking a count as a thief for the prize of an empty corpse.
Either way, this is a separate discussion for a separate issue.
I don't care about griefing or griefers. I care about being allowed an opportunity to attempt to retaliate.
The fact that they still allow people to kill wandering healers doesn't --and shouldn't -- preclude them from trying to reduce other forms of griefing.
My biggest problem with Detect Hidden -- and the Reveal spell -- is that people can do it just to mess with you without recourse. Finding the person revealing me is only the first step if I'm not allowed to do anything about it without taking a count.
This idea isn't that weird. You just have...
Make a Last Target->Hide macro that completes your detect and rehides you instantly.
Momentarily flashing your name on the screen of someone who's probably AFK anyway is barely even worth getting worked up about. If they're at the keyboard, they already figured out someone is there when their...
That's why I'm asking. I'm trying to figure out what this change does to you.
The point is that it effectively makes the cooldown longer because you have to rehide after using it.
Thanks for clearing that up for me. Long story short, it's more risky than before.
Seems to me that, assuming...
I don't understand the problem. I play a thief on this server, but I don't run Detect Hidden in my build.
It seems to me like this change does two things, specifically:
Increases the Detect Hidden cooldown to 10 seconds any time you want to stay hidden, because you have to re-hide after using...
