While I agree with all points of @wkstrm I think one of the biggest points for MIBs is, staff would not want to put any further barriers to players getting in boats/ships. Most players already consider ships too risky or worthless to get out on the ocean with, why add to that?

For me the answer is magery AND resist, but that's not neccessarily something that works for everyone as it takes some knowing to get the levels right (they would not be GM). The best answer is the above by @GrimwaldGaming.
Bit of a gimp response... While its true that you can not easily auto-throw exp pots like in razor/uos - that's not truly an advantage anyways. In Sallos you do get the actual advantage of accurate animations. Either way though, I don't see explosion potions as an issue except as a learning...

Of course it has limitations but that is because UOF has server side restrictions so that the injournal function is only used in certain ways. I honestly don't remember if NPC speak will be caught with that or not though.
