What just happened?

I took 4k gold out of the bank to buy a keg of total refreshment potions from a player vendor. He took my gold and said that I didn't have enough room in my backpack, so he would credit my bank account and I should come back later when I had room. I dumped some stuff and went back and bought the keg. I didn't get the popup asking if I want to pay 4000gp for the keg. When I get back to the bank, there is another 4k gone. Wtf, just a shady vendor double charging a noob? Should I have just taken the keg (dragged it to my inventory)? And do things drop to the ground here when you can't carry them?

You don't have to have gold on you to purchase from vendors I believe. They just pull straight from your bank.

As to why or how you got double charged, I'm not sure.

Yes but if your bank is full and your backpack is full it will drop to the ground if you buy it
