What do I do with loot I can't sell?

New player here, trying to get an idea of what I should be looting and doing with it.

I was going through some parts of the New Player Dungeon and found several things I thought would be worth looting like fancy shirts, weapons, some things I thought might be ingredients or reagents, etc.

When I went back to town I talked to several shops that I figured would be interested in said loot but found that I was only able to sell the weapons.

Now I have some random loot I'm not sure what to do with, including some raw meat.

Should I trash it? Does that mean just putting it on the ground? Will it disappear? Can I cook meat?

Thanks in advance!

Things like raw meat, fancy shirts, etc. can usually be trashed. The shirt really serves no purpose other than clothing, but CAN be cut into cloth, which can then be cut into bandages for Healing. This can be done with a pair of scissors.

Raw meat can be fed to higher-end tamed animals that require raw meat as their diet. Giant Beetles are included. There's no reason to hang onto it since you can buy some for like 3gp from the butcher shop. You can cook it to eat, but you can also buy food from Innkeepers, taverns, etc. and just eat that. It only costs a few gold and it keeps you from having to stockpile tons of looted food.

Weapons and armor can be sold to NPCs or other players. Typically, basic weapons with no modifiers (i.e. just something like "Axe" or "Bow" with no added specs) won't sell to players-- nobody would buy it. But you can sell to their relevant NPCs for a little gold. If you have a Blacksmith you can also smelt the weapons down into ingots to use for crafting.

Regs are good to hold onto. You can either use them as a mage, use them on an Inscription character to craft spells, or stockpile them and sell them when you collect bulk amounts (in the thousands).

Items dropped on the ground will eventually vanish, I believe after 2 or 3 server saves (?).
