Dunno about ban but houses have been dropped in the past and I believe they have ways to tell what's going on if they look into it.

If you think someone's doing it, page in and continue with your day. The staff here are pretty damn responsive even if you don't hear back from them.

What do you care, nothing here is sold for real money. Enjoy your time. There's nothing to gain for having Billions of gold and trammel bank sitter gear. (docks gear.) Do you want to PvP/PVM? Either way none of the effects of having a good look effect any of these things.

I think it just goes to fair play, no one wants to 'compete' against someone who has an unfair advantage.

Plus those of us that follow the rules have a vested interest in seeing those rules followed by others: not getting caught in the crossfire when things get fucked with to stop cheaters/rule skirters.

Other than PvP, how does one compete in an open world like UO? I completely agree with the fair play. It rankles me a little when folks cheat and abuse the system, however, this is an open world. What is there to compete about? Just curious as it may add more flavor to UO for me.

Pixel crack predominantly

Ah, never really got into pixelcrack. I've always played with the DayZ mentality (even before DayZ came out). I am not likely going to be able to keep the crap i find as i'm likely to get abused before getting it safe.

I care about people chewing up realty locations from multiple accounts. The thing about it is I would hope that there would be greater consequences when they actually catch people, more just to deter people from cheating in the future. Like maybe nuke all their houses, tax their bank account based on all the housing sales they made with these extra accounts. If its just a slap on the wrist, and with how simple it would be to change your IP, then may as well swoop up more than just 1 location when the idocs fall. Make an account quick just to have a young to loot shit from IDOCs when they fall.

I haven't been on for the last couple rounds of IDOCs since they fucked with the timers, but I don't remember many youngs being at drops in the past.

Keep in mind to place a house there are skill and time played requirements, and I'm reasonably sure a young cannot place a house.

Not young to place a house, but to grab chests / rares / anything. Or even just stand in the spot so no one can place a house there until the area has been cleared by the young's main account/guild.

Youngs cannot place plots.

But yes, you could loot IDOCs without consequence as a young. I''ve seen a few at IDOCS but the impression I got they seemed like legitimate new players (I even gated a few to some the last couple rounds of IDOC Madness).

But as far as IDOCs and multiple accounts go, the staff watches people suspected of doing this very closely, as has been mentioned recently in staff posts. You can and will be caught if you do this.

Just addressing the young at IDOC thing. Please page if you see a young at an IDOC. We have and will remove them from the area and inform them that they must remove young status or remain out of the area until said IDOC is gone. I assure you, I'll sit there and wait for a longgg time to make sure they don't come back and if they do, they will go to jail. Just wanted to address that part.

yay, thanks JoeB. Thats a huge win.

Right, but once they do catch them. What is the punishment?

From what I understand those houses get dropped and the multiple accounts get banned.

Pretty sure repeat offenders get perma banned.

So the house gets randomly dropped so they can tell a friend to place a new one at the same location? And they get their placeholder accounts with nothing banned. Hmm, as i said before I think that maybe a review of plot sales should take place and their bank account should be taxed accordingly. I mean, you make 15mil selling plots because you can place 4 plots on every IDOC round, then you get the 220k plot dropped and an account banned.

I mean, a greater punishment should be placed into the ToS to make people think twice about doing something like this. Or at least not be so blatant about it.

**addition

I mean they OBVIOUSLY know they are doing something wrong when they setup a VPN to hide their IP address. Its blatant cheating and violating the ToS for in-game monetary gain. Punishments should fit crimes. Maybe lower them to only having 1 house max for a couple months? Place a small house on their other account somewhere in trammel so they cannot place another one on that account? Let them keep the 1 house and have to sit out of the IDOC game for a while.

The plots will get blocked up with trees or random junk, probably to be raffled off at a later point in time.

As one of the players that sells houses regularly, I can't say I see that sort of thing happening frequently, and certainly nowhere to the limit of 15m. But like I said, staff take this sort of thing seriously and there has been a crackdown of sorts recently. As for the severity of punishments, I suppose that is up to the discretion of the staff.

Well, to PREVENT it from happening again in the future consequences should be harsher. As I have never been found to have done this, it would seem to be a good business decision to create an alternate identity on both the forums and UO. Using the same IP address on both, just for placing plots on IDOCS. I mean if i got away with it twice it would be worth it. Whats the worst that can happen? Get that alternate ID banned and a couple 200k plots demo'd? If there is a possibility i can place 2-3 nice sized plots on the next IDOC round it would seem like a pretty good idea to me.......

hmm.......

Nevermind, i think that the punishments are harsh enough. Carry on ;)

Because you will ultimately be linked to your main account and lose that too.

Right, but you are allowed to say fuck the rules once before they do anything to your main account is my understanding. It's only the 2nd time that you lose anything, and that is just an assumption based on one of your previous replies. Maybe the 2nd time the punishment is the same also?

**Addition And on the internet, you are not ultimately linked anything except an IP that can be easily spoofed. Maybe the flow of gold to my main account could be tracked, but im not sure of that either. Anyways, the fact remains as long as before i get caught i can xfer all the gold to my main account, then its an FFA.
