Utter Noob Bettle question

It's been suggested to me by some of the cleverer of you out there that at least ONE of my toons needs a beetle.

I think I understand the basic's of this but would be grateful if some of my assumptions/questions could be looked at!

Here's what I think I know:

  • I can buy a beetle for a relatively low sum, and I don't need any taming skills etc to control it.
  • If it/we dies it will be bonded to me - I don't have to wait a week
  • You can store heaps of loot on it which makes it popular for mining runs

I guess my questions are:

  • If I die in a dungeon I can res easily enough with another char/npc/"help I'm stuck" request. How do I get my dead pet out of the dungeon - particularly on a toon with no magery?
  • If the answer is the donation ball - sweet - but I see this only has nine charges and it costs more coins to recharge. Can I get the recharge powder anywhere else?
  • Do I need to feed it to stop it running away?

- To get your pet out of the dungeon while dead you have two scenarios in those shoes
A - Both you and the pet are dead - Log on alt character on other account and send a gate to a spot close to dead char, go through gate, if beetle is following you, it will go through gate, or it wont you go through get rez run in say all follow me and die then take it through gate
B - Just you are dead, or you ran to a healer, got a res, and ran back to you bonded dead pet, say all follow me recall and it will follow even when dead
C - Also have a char with Vetinary to be able to rez you own pets, or ask around at bank/docks and someone will do it eventually for free
- No the recharge powder is only avaiable through Dono Coins, but you can buy them with gold, from people who have them by buying them with dono coins, or buy the dono coins off someone with gold and buy the charges, or even better yet donate
- Yes i believe if your pet ever becomes totally unhappy it will go wild, you really wont have to feed it that much after its bonded, especially if you are just riding it, pets do not loose hapiness while they are being ridden, at least i dont think they do. Feed it 5 ribs or something every once in a while if you are constantly getting off, saying commands to it like All Follow Me, or its dieng.

Thanks Kraden - appreciate it. All six toons and ethies and I've got a couple of thousand of coins in the bank. Absolutely don't mind contributing to this fantastic server - just wanted to check I wasn't committing to a style of play that made it subscription base-eske.

How tough are the beetles? If I go down, can they do any meaningful damage? (inb4 go down wife jokes).

I hope you didn't forget that bonding takes a week, even for a beetle, unless you use a bonding deed.
Also, you'll have to feed your beetle once in a while. Everyone wants to eat!
No, they don't do any notable damage... basically they're just a big blue ridable backpack. :D

Yeah sorry i didnt mention the stable. Yeah feed it. Stable it seven days. Feed it again. Make sure it says bonded cause if its not then when it dies it dies
