Using Lockpicking in houses

My first post here... =)

I´m making a thief and would like to know if it´s possible to use lockpicking skill to open houses on this shard or just to open lock chests. Other question is if it´s necessary to train the remove trap skill or just using the spell is enough to take the trap away, for a GM magery char.

Could not find this informations on my forum´s research so far. Thanks a lot!

No you can't use lockpicking to pick house doors, only chests etc. Using the telekinesis spell does just as well as the remove trap skill.

I see... so, I think I'll review my char and replace lockpicking for other skill and make a hunter char for lockpicking use. Now I just need to discovery how to decrease the skill stats ' cause I've almost 45 now!

To the right of a skill you can set it to gain, lower, or lock. Once you're at the skillcap (700), you can begin to take away from any skill you want by pointing the arrow down and gaining in another skill

You won't be able to get to that sweet spot of 10 or lower anymore. If your dex is already at 45, the lowest you can get it for the lockpicking advantage is 25. Its really not a big deal though as you are gonna have to work your butt off anyways to GM lockpicking -- whats a couple more points to gain?

keep dex at 10 and train lockpick to 95. dex raises lockpicking shown skill so if you have lower shown skill the gm chest you using to 95 skill gets you a few more .1's

Actually it LOWERS shown skill so that you don't hit 95 as soon as you would with 100dex

Anyway, I'll give up about lockpicking and I need to decrease the skill (now 45). My stats is 100 25 100, what is also not good for a lockpicking skill... so, I already put the arrow of the skill on "lower mode". Now do I have to train lockpicking anyway to decrease? That is it?

Once you turn the arrow down, you may not see it lower till you hit your 700 skill point cap. Once you hit that and attempt to gain in another skill, the lockpicking skill points will go down.
