Unidentified Item drops off different mobs

Im curious to know if all Unidentified drops are equal. Say if i kill an Ettin and get an unidentified item does it have the same random chance to be an elite weapon or armor piece as if i killed a dragon or anything really hard to kill and got one? Basically are all Unidentified items completely random with rng statistic rolls when identified?

I don't believe so. I don't think i've ever got a decent magic weapon from Ettins. mostly my 'keepers' come from Ogrelords, lichlords, dragons, titans, and really anything that makes me scream at my computer screen
