Let me point out what Shane is saying, and lets have a discussion without getting OT or berating. Here goes:
An item bless deed will be introduced to the shard, and I am going to use myself as an example.
I have a fisher/Mapper and have since week one. I quit doing MIB's over 6 months ago and also took a 2 month break to move IRL. Currently I have:
89 vanq axes
117 vanq mace weaps
108 vanq swords
79 vanq bows
98 vanq fencing weapons
400 invul armor pieces
My PK runs only vanqs, and my K/D is about 20 to 1. Meaning every 3-4 days I lose a vanq. There are MANY like me. I donate almost all power weapons to new players. I load a bag and hit newbie spots to give these out, that's how many I have.
Power is +7
Vanq is +9
Add supremely on there and you get an extra 3-6 damage. This is what someone will bless.
Here's my point:
A vanq weapon won't make you invulnerable. If someone blessed a hammer, they are susceptible to DPers and mages. They are weak to 2v1, Tamers, anything you need to chug for. I am against item blessing, but on the scale of vanqs we have here, it will make very little difference. Add in the fact gold hammers+ will be popping up and faction blessed and you have a level playing field.
I am estimating that 50k coins will be spent on this raffle, maybe more. That fuels this server to keep running, creates something unique on the server, and all it does is keep one guy from picking up another vanq from a chest. Shane is not wrong in doing this. It isn't ideal, but this is a huge help before the holidays to afford their marketing campaign. If it gets us 40 new guys, that's 40 guys with vanqs out there anyway.
As a bard I farm 100k an hour plus items and vanqs. Yesterday I got two tame SS. I could BUY about 25 high end vanqs from a day of casual play. Let this happen, and understand that it will be a drop in a bucket. We had them on OSI and Ralick of Chessy still died. I watched Johnny Kilroy beat vanq wielding dexers NAKED in a tourney. It's the player, not the item. So welcome in a new wave of players, thanks to this new ad campaign this IBD will fund.
