Hello all, going to start tonight (if I can get vmware sorted out). Couple questions:
  • Are there housing plots open or is it all pretty much spoken for?
  • What are the donation coins used for?
  • Any good guilds for a new player?
  • Where is the most active? I was always a Skara fan way back....
  • I used to play a provoker mainly, head deep down and make dragons nad blood eles kill each other, is this still a viable method of play?

1. There are slots still open, and houses go IDOC every day, so you will just have to search them out.
2. Donation coins are used to purchase items like collector items, ethereal mounts, pet balls, dye tubs, etc. Nothing that has an effect on combat.
3. There are a few, just check the Guild sub forum for ones that are recruiting.
4. 90% of the players use Britain West Bank. Skara Brae and Yew are the next most popular.
5. Very viable. My personal favorite hunting build is a Provo Archer (GM Archery, Tactics, Anat, Healing, Music, Provo, Magery), but any Provo variations work well.

Honestly, I highly recommend a Dex Peacer as anyone's first character, and especially since you like Provo characters.

Basically Start with 50 Magery, 49 Healing, 1 Music and macro up peacemaking and music. You can GM it over night by peacemaking on yourself in the new player dungeon. From then on, you can pick whatever weapon skill you want and have at it! You will get money so fast with this build. Once you are starting to struggle peacemaking harder, more lucrative mobs, switch to your preferred Provoke dexxer build. You can GM Provocation in a little over 24 hours.

You can start with a pure dexxer, but peacemaking or provoke just make it SO much easier starting out.

Where would I find the new player dungeon...? And what weapon would be recommended? Mace? Swords?

There are two entrances tot eh new player dungeon: one in front of the Inn that your character will spawn at in Britain, the other in a stone tower southwest of West Britain Bank.

I personally started out going swords, because of the wide variety of weapons, but I think Archery is the best for this type of build, just more expensive. Really though, it doesn't matter what weapon you use. It is so easy to gain weapons skills with this build (since monster will be peaced and not attacking you) that you can change if you decide you don't like your initial weapon skill.

For a good newb guild -- seek us out! STR: Steam Rollin & Trollin. We mostly hunt tmaps and idocs. You can find our guildhouse very easily. It's a huge 18x17 white marble custom that is right on the trail, leaving chaos shrine and heading South-east towards Brit. Very hard to miss if you stay on the trail 4 screens past Chaos shrine.

You can also look for Akillah, the leader, or any other SRT member at the Brit Bank. We usually hang out on the far left side of the bank, near the PvP moongate.
