SOS Question

So I've noticed something while doing SOS's. When I get to the right spot and start fishing, sometimes I pull up anywhere between 15-25 shipwrecks items before the chest comes up, and sometimes I get the chest on my first cast. Does this depend on your proximity to the exact coordinates, or is it just random?

Depends on skill how? I have 110 fishing right now. I do 15-30 MIBs on a good day. Some are single or less than 5 casts, and some are up to 30 before the chest is pulled up.
