So pets receive perma stat-loss?

Is there a reason for this? Just spent a shit ton of work getting my tamer up to 110 only to hear that pets receive stat loss on each and every death.

If reds don't even deal with permanent stat loss, why should pets? Even if its small, recovering a % of skill for each death can take significantly longer than what a red deals with on temporary stat loss.

Tamers are end-game and have a high risk / reward ratio. Helps keep the lesser used skill scrolls retain value. I don't mind too much when the combat skills take a hit, but that resistance skill loss is a B*tch.

Only skills that're a problem to retrain are magery and resist. Just eat some scrolls for those if the pet dies. You will make the 25k needed for the two scrolls faster than you could train the missing point for each.
