Slayers and 105+ Dungeon Mining Odd Finds?

Okay, couple of dumb questions please...

First of all, My Blacksmithy is current at 105. I remember when I was working my skill up like maybe in the 60s or 70s that it seemed I w as crafting katanas at the Brit Crafting area and I was getting tons of regular katanas that were "slayer" weapons. Now, at 105 BS skill, I just made 40 kats and 40 krysses at different forges in that same crafting area... and I didn't get a single slayer weapon. I'm sure there is a good, simple explanation that I am not thinking of - but I'd love to know why.

Second question. I was recently mining in a dungeon and found two different shades of purple little weird-shaped items that don't give any name when clicked on, but if I try double clicking one it just tells me I don't have the required components. What in the world are these, and what are they used for etc?

Yeah this happens, especially for items like kats and krysses that you do not have a 100% exceptional chance.

I have no clue -- maybe one of the new Brewing components? Or some tinkering recipe that hasn't been given out yet.

The actual graphic for these are from the original trammel moonstones (pre UO:R) -- But that's just some free history for ya.

Yeh I remember those old moonstone things, these are sorta similar but at the bottom that are all scattered. i tried to zoom in some more, but the picture started to dissolve. I think you can see that they are different then those old moonstones here however.

Also, about the slayers... Maybe it was just me because I was just pounding at katanas trying to improve my smith skill, but all the slayers I made I was pretty sure were just regular katanas, not exceptional because I remember simply smelting them figuring they would need to be both an exceptional weapon and slayer weapon both to have any value to other players. But now that most of my krysses and katanas are gm exceptional weapons, I can't seem to craft a single slayer weapon for the life of me. Such irony! lol.

Anyhow here is my blow up of those weird items I found mining... Maybe this will help spark someones knowledge of what they are. I wish they would tell the item name when you left clicked on it like anything else in the game, but they don't.

A couple thigs:

Slayer crafting percentage is what...3% I believe? So you just had a bad run is all.

And the stuff that comes from mining are actually gems. Gems that have been double clicked and turned into powder for tinkering purposes that are not in place on UOF. Try it out on some fresh gems.

Nothing out of the ordinary going on here :)

Ah ha, lol. Yup double clicked on some gems and got the same result, different colors.. one of them actually said "amber dust" and more colors again didn't give a name. Hey.. thanks. Now I know. Hope I don't accidentally double click on something important like a pile of 2300 iron ingots and get such a useless pile of un-named grey powder haha!
