I love UO, and UO4E is fantastic. Professional quality, Pre-Ren gameplay... it's just perfect.

But I'm afraid that Age has finally caught up with me, and closed this chapter on my Gaming life.

Where I once truly enjoyed the chase or escape of PvP, the feeling of Earning it when you tripped up a faster and better-skilled player... by making a 1-tile turn at a full run mounted, or similar...
I now have joints that are fuzed or simply lock up, slowed responses, and eyes that can't tell friend from foe, and need the clear Not Human appearance of monsters to be sure..

PvP, once a reason to play, is now the worst kind of dissuasion. Not a Risk for rewards, but an unavoidable, persisting series of random deaths.

It is with no small regret that I lose that aspect of the game... and I hope you all get a good long time before you face the same difficulties.

Too bad there's not a shard just like this with PvP on specific days or .. as much as I hate to think it... a full opt-in/out.

There's ways to play that make it really easy to avoid PKs entirely. Ever tried growing plants? that's one good way to make chedda and not need to see anyone at all lol. ever. Also i guess theres aquariums. In short, theres lots of stuff you could do that can make your experience alot more calm. Crafting for example, is good relaxation. I think you'll really be missing out on becoming part of this wonderful community if you leave so soon, so I'd say stay a while longer and maybe research alternative playstyles? probably worth giving it a shot at least! ^^

hehe I don't see myself becoming an interior decorator.. but Crafting might give me something to do.
I'll try chopping some wood and mining.. and go from there.

Sure going to be odd tho.. logging in and grabbing a pick instead of a spear, or a hatchet instead of a bow.

Judicious application of alcohol may be necessary.

spending these hot summer days meditating with my friend mary jane
also growing a few plants hehe irl and uof

Age should not be a factor in whether you can play a game or not. If you can't sit at a computer desk then you have some serious shit you need to have a doc look at. Lots of meds out there that should be taken advantage of and for your eyes I suggest getting glasses lol

Make friends. There is safety in numbers, for the most part, and if you care and the people you're with care, you can at least survive encounters if not destroy your enemies. The problem isn't the PKers and the PvPers, it's the lack of people willing to stand up and fight back or at least learn the game enough that they don't victimize themselves.
