Rugs are gone?

6 donation rugs that were on the main floor of my house are gone.... I was guessing they dropped through the floor... but when I CTRL Shift I cant see the handle for them?

Update: Looks like CTRL Shift doesn't show a handle for rugs. I'm guessing they are under my floor, how can I get them back?

After waiting in the que for awhile I get a message from @Shane telling me he doesn't see any rugs...

I'm guessing there is some kind of bug out there. Either they got stolen or deleted some how?? Hopefully someone will take a closer look at this as there were the deed type, so it's not like they weren't locked down.

this happened to me before the revert
i actually placed the carpet, and it ended up under the floor
sorry, the revert had fixed the problem for me and i forgot to file a bug report about it.
You might be able to see the carpet using the circle of transparency from outside your house, but it wont help you because you wont be able to get line of sight on the peices most likely. Always worth a try though.

Weird bug. But nobody can steal your carpet unless they get on your account, since only the owner can re-deed items on this shard.

for me it only happened during placement of the carpets. I'd like to take a look at your carpet if you dont mind meeting me in britain on my char strandedness, maybe it will help me gain further insight.

Thanks for the reply,

I'm not sure when this happened as I haven't played much lately... so it might have been before the revert? My house is one of the island customs where circle of transparency does not work. I'm thinking that's why I can't tell if the rugs are there but just stuck under the floor. I highly doubt anyone got access to my account as there a lot of items locked down all over that worth way more then the rugs that went missing. :)

This house is really buggy and I often have to replace locked down items after server a re-boot. They often partially fall through the floors... but I've never had anything disappear totally before.

I can meet up sure but it will have to be later tonight as I'm at work right now.

any two items that are on the same z axis may switch which item is ''on top'' every time there is a restart.
A good example of this can be seen here .. its an old screenshot of my friends IPY2 castle. We placed pentagrams and abbatoirs in the same exact spots and then on restart, they got all mixed together hehe.

Im guessing maybe in your case it has something to do with the custom house, since this wont typically happen with the carpets.

Im curious if the carpets, until recently, had some code involved where they would always appear ''on top'' after a revert, and that maybe that code got messed up. (or any placeable items from deeds)

The main reason I had wanted to see your carpets is that i was curious if you had other items locked down on the center tiles of each carpet, which may have somehow ''pushed'' them through the floor on restart. Reason being is that when i placed my carpet, and it ended up under the house, it was the first time I had tried to place it using a target relative hotkey, and there were items on the spot stacked up on each z level where i was trying to place it, from the floor up a ways...

but then again who knows. At least, if there was a change to make this happen by accident, it must have been recently.

PS in your case, the only way now to retrieve the carpets will be to get a GM to do it heh, not only because they do not have the same LOS restrictions as players, but also because there is no circle of transparency.
If they record a ''target by type'' hotkey on another carpet, and use an axe while standing above your carpet, that should work. (make sure it's the same carpet type.) I would even try this yourself just incase your custom house floor doesnt block LOS like a regular house will.

I'm going to try this tonight... :)

2 out of the 6 did indeed have something locked down ontop.

if you need a gold rug to use to get target by type set up, i have one in the yew bank library, bottom floor. Dont know where any blue carpets are off hand though.

Thanks... I have one rug that was on a different floor that did not drop so I can use that one. :)

nice

when you go to replace the rugs, if you want i can show you how to raise the entire carpet by 1 z axis, you'll still be able to walk on it and never will need to worry about this happening again. Im guessing it was the lower floor where the rugs had problems? that's which floor it happened to me on.

thats awesome
it may be because your house is custom, as stated, not sure though
i know that when i placed my rug, the thing ended up somehow so that i couldn't get line of sight.

My advice in this case now is if you're going to place the carpets again, remove any other items on any of the tiles the carpet will be going on, especially the center tile!
