Resist Gain Too Slow on pets!!!!

How come the resist gain is so slow on pets... it should be more in line with other skills.. Could you give it some thought because its a joke trying to gain resist especially with all the deaths due to lag .

You have to train it the same way you train resist on a player. It gains exactly the same. Keep in mind that if you try to gain resist on a player or pet by just fighting mobs -- you will probably never GM it. Resist requires specific spells at different levels to actually gain at a good pace.

I didn't know that.. thanks halygon, but still.. gains are way slower then losses. ... I have played a tamer for over ten years and never had such a hard time with pets skills loss or lack of gain. :(
Please look into this? I no longer just want to jump on to spawns or champs due to knowing if my pet dies it is gonna cost me big time.

Yes, I understand that you can use skill scrolls on pets but it is extremely expensive, and scrolls are becoming difficult to find.... Even with this option, The losses WAY out do the gains!! I do champs and do spawn hunts. Between the spawn and pkers it is almost impossible to keep my pets alive. ( Also, I have to keep the skill balls dusted due to all of the pkers who like to lure and steal my pets!!) PLUS, any one who makes a tamer can vouch for me ... IT TAKES LOTS OF TIME AND DILIGENCE to do so!! I am not complaining. I love playing a tamer, and I love this server. I am asking for the skill loss and gain balance to be reconsidered, and balanced out. Thanks :)

I have to agree with this to a certain extent. When I first started here resist was slow to gain but it was doable. Who wants to sit around burning through regs Mana Vamping their pet all day or buying skill scrolls everytime 6 pks gank you in a dungeon and decide to lure 20 mobs on your pets. Taming on this shard is being used for one HUGE gold sink.

:) Good thing PVP players don't loose their resist gains like our pets do.. There would be no more pvp on the server..lol :)

Actually it wouldn't affect pvpers half as much, but it would make those precious skill scrolls that much harder to find. :)

I don't have a GM tamer yet, but I can imagine it's going to be annoying at higher levels trying to bring my favorite WW or rare pets out. The skill loss should be there to keep you on your toes, keep you playing careful, and maybe if a pet does die it takes a few hours to re-GM; it shouldn't terrify you from using your favorite pets altogether. This game is too unpredictable to take that chance. I'll just end up playing my dexxers a lot more. I'm much less excited to GM taming than I was at first cause I feel like playing a tamer will be too tense and nerve-wracking these days.

You just don't know..... I am making an archer now to hunt with because I cant afford for my pets to keep dieing!! The odds are way against you!! First.. it takes forever to make a tamer. Second.. You FINALLY find , tame, and get pets with decent stats and train them up... Just to have them loose the skills FASTER then you can gain them!!! Third.. then you have pvpers killing your pets, or stealing them after they pvp you! Fourth.. The stress is horrible when you go out with them and you know you have no more scrolls to help their skills, and if you let them die, even with GM vet and magery, You are S.O.L. Did I mention the scrolls are now over ten k to buy for the resist and magery?? Oh yeah It is great to have a tamer.. AND extremely stressful!! P.S. Dont forget to have fun!! :rolleyes:

I love my tamer and I'm not at all scared to take out my best pets to do things. A few pots, a recall macro, and a pet ball go a long way. This does not change the fact that resist is insanely difficult to gain if possible at all. I didn't comment here to discourage future players from making tamers. Please remember for all the downfalls of a tamer, I make more money on that guy than any other character I have. I have made 90 % of my money on this server with my tamer and no matter how frustrating changes may be it's still well worth it to have one.

I don't want to discourage any one from making a tamer... I just want to let it be known that it has its down sides... Tamer is my number one toon always! !! But it is much more difficult to play one now, then it was when I first started it! I will help and support any one who is interested in becoming a tamer.. gotta love pets ! :)

The resist gains broke.It does not work .A new tamable has more resist. This nerf ruins pets.It was always hard to gain now, impossible.

I'm a tamer and at one point beat this topic to death. There was a time when you'd get 10% loss per pet death. It's been worse :)
