I want to make my house a little bigger, when I demolish it, do i get any of the cash back or it's all lost?

If it's a classic house, you will get the deed back. If it's a plot, you get the cash minus the 10k to design it.

ok, yeah it's a new style house, so when I demolish it will just put cash back in my bank I guess?

Yes but very important if you want to replace quickly (if populated/high traffic area): make sure you have enough loose gold to put a plot back down without having to make a trip to the bank. I'm pretty sure placing a house will pull gold out of checks in your box but a bigger plot will cost you more than the gold you get back for your smaller plot so adjust accordingly!
