Question about stealing..

So.. I'm fairly new to the shard and in an attempt to annoy all of you sitting around I have created a thief, but I'm am pretty confused about the training! :

40-50: Steal 3 Stones
50-60: Steal 4 Stones
60-70: Steal 5 Stones
70-80: Steal 6 Stones
80-90: Steal 7 Stones
90-100: Steal 8 Stones.
What does Stones mean? I know it has something to do with weight , but how much of an item, such as bottles, be equivalent to 3-8 stones?
What is the most efficient way of training stealing?
How do I join the Thieve's Guild? Are there any requirements because I went to Bucs Den and I haven't seen any grandmaster other than the blacksmith!

Please help!

I do apples....
You can see how much something weighs by putting it in your pack or a chest and checking your weight...then remove the item and check again.

So the apples...make macro that steals apples from a bag on the ground and lifts and drops the bag....put the bag next to a wall so ppl can't see it w/o circle of transparency. Add apples according to your table by weight.

Even if someone takes your bag it's easy to start again
