how come there is no crushing blow on Q-staffs?
Are they usefull at all in PvP?
have I trained my carpentry to make chests?

Only Metal 2h maces have crushing blows - staves are not included for that special move.

They are not very useful in pvp as it is too easy to heal through them.

In general for any crafting skill, make items that you have between 65-80% success rate at to gain skill. The success rate will be listed in your skills crafting tool.

thanks,

started training carpentry to craft Q-staffs. time to drop this useless skill
Definitely not useless here.. you can do a lot with carpentry, tinkering, tailoring, and blacksmithing on UOF that you cannot do elsewhere.

Tinkering, tailoring and blacksmithy ofc.

But carpentry? what else is there beside Q-staffs? an exeptional vanq club might be nice, but you cant repair those. right?

Ehh it's not a LOT but carpentry has two uses besides crappy add-ons: Legendary Crafting and galleon crafting.

Legendary Crafting was kind of a bust...but it's one of the few actual quests that UOF has so it's worth a go.

Galleons are pretty cool.

Carpentry is an awesome skill. You can craft galleons, furnitures, boomboxes with tinkering.
The quarterstaff is the fastest macing weapon and pretty cheap to craft. There is a small chance to craft vanq weapons with bloodwood, frostwood or heartwood (don't use heartwood, it's needed for galleons) without using some kind of runic hammer. Keep all this vanqs for the Talisman Quest.
You can craft lots of decoration, music instruments with musicanship. You can craft ship upgrades.

Since dropping lumberjacking on my dexxer and changing Swordmanship to Macing my favorite weapon of choice is the quarterstaff.

My two cents.

You can repair wooden weapons. You can make repair deeds with scrolls. You can craft vanqs with high level wood. Again, capentry is an awesome skill. ;)

thats rly nice. But still, the only useable weapon would be the club?
I assume you need 120 carp for best results with frost and bloodwood.
Powerscrolls and skillscrolls alone would be quite an investment. hmmm....

What I said, the best wooden macing weapon is the Quarterstaff. But this weapon is a two hand weapon. That means you need to disarm before drinking pots. On Bosses like Arch or Adra this will be a long delay, that's why you need to use a one hand weapon. People say the best one hand macing weapon is the War Axe. Other say it's the war mace (last time at Arch was a discussion about).
But the War Axe is doing a little more dmg then Club, but they have the same speed. Quarterstaff is faster then every other one or two handed macing weapon. It's the fastest macing weapon. With a level 6 berzerker and a repond slayer quarterstaff you need only three hits to kill a titan.

Another thing is getting resources for carpentry... it's pretty fast and easy. For BS you need to find a mine or rocks or mountains. You need a while to get some hundreds iron ingots. For wood I open my door and two tiles away is the first tree. Many hundred trees around my house. You can lumber in Minoc guard zone. Mining in guard zone is possible too, small rocks or Cove mountain side.

If you wanna play a defenser go for Mining and Blacksmithing. If you like to play a berserker, you need to play with 0 ar to get 100% EXP. No need to buy or craft any armor. If you like to start a crafter and a berserker, start with lumberjacking and carpentry. Or start with lumberjacking on your dexxer and use axes to get the 40% damage bonus from lumbrjacking when using axes. Later drop swordmanship and lumberjacking (i dropped it with 100K wood in stock) to go for macing and mostly armslore (if you have your talisman).

You can play a berserker meta dexxer pretty succesful if using a lumberjacking carpenter for support.

@Kird

I am normally the top score at Arch Daemon (Link D-port) and I ALWAYS use clubs. I use clubs on my berserker exclusively. They hit fast, and do sufficient damage, but the real reason is the bonus properties from crafting with frost/blood wood.

I probably have around 30 vanq exceptional clubs and still thousands of frost/blood wood I could turn into more, or sell for easy money. The +13 damage of a vanq exceptional club is very nice, but is WAY cheaper than the +13 damage of a valorite war axe. You can also craft slayers with damage modifiers. I have a few repond vanq, reptilian vanq, and other power/vanq exceptional slayers, these are top notch, PvM weapons.

So yes, carpentry is good. I would use another character for Bowcraft fletching as Carpentry combined with other crafting skills allows you to craft house add-on deeds. Fletching does not.
