Ping/latency question

I haven't played on UOF in a while. Although I still log in weekly to refresh my house. Main reason being once the servers switched I went from like 35-50 ping to 55-80.

That aside, my main focus in UO had always been pvp. I played napa valley on OSI and although I wasn't the best at 5x dueling I was definitely ONE of the best on my server. (Renaissance+)

I played UOF for a few months and I just feel like latency/ping has a lot more impact on casting/etc then I use to consider. I mean there are people I dueled on here it just really felt like everything they castwas more twitch like, I'm no where near as good as I was but it seriously felt like latency was def playing a strong part.
Does anyone know for sure how much of a role how close you are to the server impacts your response? I feel like even at 50 ping someone with 20-30 has a considerable advantage if equally skilled.
Maybe it's just my brain over thinking it and I'm a lot rustier then I think. But I've dueled some folks and I'm like how the fuck is he possibly getting these cures off?!

Are there any tips/tricks to running UO better on new computers/increasing ping rates? Thanks.

Input?

There are players pvping with up too 300 ping on UOF.... and hear you are crying about 55 to 80 lol.

yes spell casting has alot to do with ping, but you're going overboard.

I didn't say it's impossible to pvp at all. On OSI a good 2-3 years I was on 56k playing against like 60% of the user base playing on DSL.

I'm more asking, how can you possibly achieve being amazing if limited by latency.
There is a skill cap in dueling and you can only over skill for so much to make up for a considerable latency dif.
And I know some of these dudes are sitting at 10 ping.
