Pay 2 win is paying money that gives you an advantage or upper hand over players who cannot in game.
We are not that. You can only buy cosmetic items. One might argue that you can buy donation coins then trade them for gold then trade them for items but it still doesn't make you better than everyone. Factually the richest people on the server do not even donate, so that tells you something as well.
It is slightly pay to win. You can buy gold with dono coins and buy superior pvp items like runic armors or runic weapons. But its not as bad as in many other games. I pvp almost every day and its defenetly an advange in a 1vs1 situation if you fight with an agapite katana vs a branze katana for example.
But I doubt that there are many players who buy real power with money even tho its technecally possible. The real money costs would be to high in the long run.
Yeah you can buy dono to trade for gold but its going to help people just starting out to build a small nest egg moreso than already established players. wealthy players are usually not donating to be more wealthy. they are more likely doing so to support a server they like to spend their gametime playing or doing so to just get dono directly to get aesthetic dono items and not waste time trying to find someone else to buy dono from with gold.
Every mmorpg is p2p to some extend. Since uof pvp is not very item based the extend is small compared to most other mmorpgs. If you invest $50,000 and buy 99% of the item blessed deed raffle tickets you will probably win it and bless a valorite weapon. Of course this is p2p. But the costs for a "win" are extremly high compared to other games and the advantage you can buy is also not huge. Therefore it is not a big issue imo.
The difference here is that unlike many other free servers, donations don't reward in game gold. On UOF, donation coins can only be used at the donation vendors or sold for gold. This is turn doesn't flood the market with created gold, as all gold is still earned and spent by players. Can donating give you an advantage on obtaining supplies? Sure. Will it give you a pvp advantage? No.
