Hello everyone,

I am new to UO Forever but I have played UO many moons ago on Lake Austin. This has always been my favorite game and I have some time this winter so I wanted to start playing again. Looking to meet some like minded UO lovers. I am planning to make my first character a tamer. I look forward to meeting some new people

Eh, she has the female thing going for her though.

I guess I'll give a serious response.

As they all said, tamers are a challenge on this server. If I were you I would make a provo mage to make money and establish your self. Provocation on this server is quite frankly amazing. Once you have a house, resources and such. Then maybe dive towards the tamer path. Be warned though, it still sucks balls.

QFT, Tamers are one of (if not) the biggest gold sinks on this server. 120 Power Scrolls are 5-10 million (you'll need 105, 110, 115) and the +1 Skill Scrolls go for about 225-250k each. On the low end you are looking at almost 12 million to go from Taming 100.0 to Taming 120.0 (if you buy them instead of farming them). That doesn't include the Lore scrolls and then your Meta Pet and Relics.

A tamer is gonna burn you out real fast if that's your first character, takes quite a while to GM on this shard unless your doing taming in a dungeon for the dungeon bonuses.

I highly suggest starting a money making character, start off as a Dex/Bard/Provo & when you have a little bit of cash switch to Archery as soon as possible.

Take advantage of the dungeon bonus while your in Young status as you won't be pked and harassed while your just starting out.

Final Template should look something like this?

Weapon Skill/Archery
Tactics
Anatomy
Healing
Musicianship
Provocation
Hiding OR Resisting Spells

I'd say change over to resisting spells once your a little more established as it can be slightly costly for a brand new player, something I still need to do myself but for doing champs/farming mobs that cast spells will help huge, although I do love hiding sometimes!

Thank you all for the advice, guess I will try some kind of prov and dexer type character. Looking forward to it. I will mainly play at night as normally I am working this time of day

Man my apologies, I always read QFT as quit fucking talking.

Like you pointed out, having a tamer is definitely a huge benefit but to start off as taming and not having a quick/cheap & efficient source of income you would struggle and lose interest very quickly is my opinion anyways.

On my Bard/Archer I can quickly farm 10k gold in about 10-15 mins and I suck at farming, let's say it even takes me 15 whole minutes that is still 40k/hr and I don't have to worry about pets/dragons being harassed/killed. I just restock and right back to the old grind.

Also @Ava LaRue you are allowed to make three accounts total & be on more then one client at a time, there is a few restrictions that you will need to know for later but with a second account Id create a mage template so you can mark runes & gate your main character around for the time being.

Just a little tip, A provo archer is one of the best pvmer templates on the server, tamers and meta dexxers are the only thing to trump it, but both the meta dexxers, and tamer are mid-end game content(I guess the meta dexxer is pretty early) but if you're going to make a dexxer provo, i recommend archery, and if you need help getting/affording arrows early on, I can help you out with it :)

A big tip : Make sure you are mentally prepared, are wearing troll proof armour and expect to meet up with one of the so-called elite on here who considers it their life's goal to make yours as miserable as possible. Be ready for the 'I have played UO since beta so I am holier than thou' shite and be wary of your best friend who's best interest is to decapitate you if your guard is dropped. According to other legends, cheating is also allowed here or maybe I am getting mixed up..

Usually your pretty tame on the forums, but I don't understand why all you people cry about "cheating" it's like you lose and just blame other people on your failures and just cry "zomg he cheats." Adam has gone over a bunch of code to prevent cheating here and Id say it's pretty scarce to find anyone cheating now a days.

I do not lose because I have no reason to win, whatever other people play and do with their game time is pretty much up to them. The biggest problem is how things are done, swept under the carpet and presumably forgotten about. Try sitting on the neutral bench and perhaps you might understand my perspective a little better.

Since I don't PvP I haven't experienced any of the cheating that's been mentioned. However, I have been accused of cheating on several occasions after lifting valuables from people's backpacks. Same scenario I suppose.

I also have been accused of cheating, but what makes me wonder is how many people would stand there allowing a mark to shove a spear so far up your jacksy that it ends up sticking out of your ear.
