This was something that Shane has pretty much said would not happen.
The general idea is that once you select a name, you are stuck with it, for better or worse. This gives names a reputation that a name change deed may reduce. If you are a shady character, you cannot hide from your reputation by changing your name. For a similar reason, we have unique names on UOF, which prevents duplicate names from being made.
This does have the drawback that if you just have a name you don't like and want to change your hard made character to a name you do like, you cannot do so.

I don't think it's a great idea for dono vendor or any easily accessible vendor, but maybe as a reward or a dono tier reward...

Its not a bad idea. Since we have unique names here and the server is filling up with players. Its hard when starting a char out and finding a name thats not taken. I think thats also reason why we have so many stupid names out there. Its like trying to pick a username on a website. And when creating your char to start just picking weird names cause you get tired of names you pick keep being taken and then you settled on some name you dont even like!
Something should be done. Or make names not unique to one player. Where else in a world is that the case? (Unique names) Serves getting to big for that if you ask me.
And make it Dev Team approved. So notorious players cant take advantage of it. Or put a world timer on it, like has to be done in first 30 days of player creation.

Double check your spelling before you click next. Been playing online games since diablo 1 and never misspelled a char name, and I'm not a smart feller.

I think @Shane should look into introducing these but make it a one use per character or account. Make it expensive so it cannot be abused, 500k to a million range. I would definitely buy one for my tamer. When I made my tamer he was never going to be a tamer I just used that char because it had magery raised already so I thought fuck it I'll use him. After spending countless hours grinding his taming up and millions on scrolls and such I regretted the name. Not that the chars name is stupid, random letters or disgusting because I wouldnt do that anyway, his name is just boring ha. Please introduce these so I can name my char the awe inspiring name he deserves rather than the boring name I chose because it was available.

If I was that lazy I wouldnt of spent the time grinding the tamer up in the first place. Thanks for your deep articulate answer though. I cant understand the problem some people have with these. If its an expensive, one use item, it wont be abused. I explained my personal reason anyway and I dont think "because shane said" is a valid reason that they shouldnt. Of course shane has the final word so what he says goes but things can still be debated and he has the ability to change his mind on things. And Vfinger, I doubt shane appreciates being tagged in a post just so you can suck his arse.

When I started training taming up I didnt realise it would be so time consuming and expensive. It was an honest mistake. By time I realised the time it would take it was already to late to start a new char.
Its not the end of the world if these dont get introduced I just put my opinion and reason forward.
@Chesty Puller @VFingerDiscount are you guys just writing stuff to bump your post counts up? Why not bring something to the debate rather than just trying to attack people who are?

Sometimes people just want to change it up. I don't plan on making another tamer so for me it would be beneficial. That's a selfish way of thinking but that's my reasoning behind it.
