Hi, as a new player I need to know what does mining in the act of Treasure hunting.

Is it needed? what are the benefits on T hunting. Is 100 mining valuable for digging or 30 is ok?

Thanks.

if you have 0 mining u must be on the exact spot if you have 30 u can be 2 tiles away

if you use any tmap library u don't need any mining

Ok ty steve-o. What is a tmap library? A public place with all the thunt spots marked?
Yes, this exactly. Rune Libraries typically have about 12 runebooks that are filled with nothing but t-map locations -- exact locations to dig. All runes are numbered from 1 to 200. You use a map like this one (http://uo.stratics.com/thb/info/maparchive/Archive1.shtml ) to identify which number you need to recall to by comparing your decoded treasure map to the map on the website, which gives you the number.

Mining originally was useful before t-map rune libraries existed because it allows you to be "close" to the spot without actually being on it (it was hard to find the right spot to dig back then). Now adays, it is a unused mechanic because of modern references.

Check my runelibrary below for a t-map library. This is a common feature of most public rune libraries on UOF, so you are not limited to mine.
