Hi, i have a lot of questions as usual.
Is there a damage/armor difference between the collored ingots and iron?
How am i able to discover rare ingots mining sites?
Can i smith magical weapons? Like those vanquish ones?
What are the biggest advantages of being a GM BS and Mining?

DAMAGE? I don't know here.

Armor? Yes, definitely. Iron should suffice, as colored can be quite a bit more expensive.

Starting at 65.0 (around that, anyway) mining skill you can mine up Dull Copper where there's a vein - these stay the same all the time. Every 5 points beyond that gives you access to Shadow, Copper, Bronze, Golden, Agapite, Verite & Valorite (at 99, not 100) BASE skill.

Yes. Filling in the upper level blacksmithing BoDs (bulk order deeds) has a chance of giving you Runic hammers, which will give certain properties to the weapons you craft with them. Durable/Accurate, Durable/Ruin, Fortified/Surpassingly Accurate/Ruin - etc. as you go through the different levels of hammers. I believe that a Valorite Hammer gives you Vanq.

Crafting ANY material with any hammer at the brit forge aka "crafter's guild" may result in a Slayer weapon, and I believe this is independent of the Runic bonuses - so you could have a valorite Vanq Silver. This bonus increases with your skill level.

Higher Mining skill (and I believe there's a pscroll to go to 120) give you a better chance to get ingots from colored ore - think back when you first started mining, and you failed to get ingots back from your iron ore. Same thing, only with Valorite ingots, which are quite expensive. You also get more Iron ingots from ore, when you have higher skill.

I never found this was really desirable, but higher Mining gives you the ability to smelt items back for additional ingots - never at a profit, but less of a loss. Maybe if you get a lot of - uh - secondhand equipment.

BS skill allows you to make things Exceptionally more often, conserving resources (ingots AND rare hammers!) and getting better BODs (which will net you more neat tools!) this is really the "high-end" of crafting. You can still make a nice amount of money as a GM blacksmith, making exceptional armor and weapons for a few hundred gold each.

I believe by 120 blacksmithing you'll pretty much be able to make anything useful (to players) Exceptional in one attempt. Platemail Tunic, which you will need to make for BoDs, might be the only one you can't do at 120 in one attempt, but this won't sell real well to players so I don't think it's a huge deal really.
