But for real, its an egg than is found on the boss of the Dragon RDA or purchased through event points that when hatched bonds to your tamer and begins its life. You train it and as it gains xp it levels from snake form to serpent form to lizard form to swamp dragon form to young dragon form to mature dragon form and then, finally at level seven, to ancient wyrm form. It has high stats and skill caps in regards to pvm and is capped at gm for PvP. It can have relics applied to it if you have an optional meta stone (found on gold and donation vendors) and one of the five relics, wealth, molten, noxious, bloody, and quicksilver. These greatly enhance the killing power of the dragon and also raise in damage as they level up. The progress of both the relics that you've applied (1 at level 2, 2 at level 4, 3 at level 6 and 4 at level 7 possible) and your dragon's XP is viewable via the meta stone interface.

What about all this meta mage and meta dexxer stuff? Looks like some sort of quest system?

Those are quests that give you a choice of talisman to use for your character. It is bound to your character and cannot be used by bards or tamers so do not begin quest with that type of character.
To begin, head three screens west of valor shrine and step up to the statue, within 1 tile and speak. It will bring up the quest gump.
The first leg is filling the stone with 30 weapons of vanquishing (no daggers knives cleavers pitchforks). You then return to the statue and turn in the stone.
He then gives you another item that you must kill higher end mobs to fill it with. After filling that with 100 kills you turn that in and receive a vial for blood or something like that (it's been awhile).
You must attend an arch demon spawn in Wrong to received a vial of defiled blood. You combine that with the item the statue gave and take the finished product to the statue and turn it in and then get to chose the talisman that you want.
You then raise the levels of those talisman by hunting and collect relics by getting random chance for those items at rdas champs and special events. All are viewable via your talisman and progress is tracked.
