Locking down items

How are items locked down? And is a house surface required? What about a boat with a surface? Can that be used as well?

No it cannot be a ship. The hold of the ship will store your items, but your ship can be sunk and the items looted.

These are the commands to use in your house

I ban thee - this removes a creature or person from your house and they wont be able to get back in
